Re: [Psychopathsgroup] Re: Anatomy of Abuse by George Rolph

Darla-
Thanks for the link.   I read that book...and I still have to say that if we all don't feel that way at some time or another by someone we care about-- then we aren't human.  Perhaps I am a co-dependant-- but if I don't try to help someone I love and care about, then doesn't that make ME psychopathic?
I guess it's kinda like the difference between an alcoholic and a functioning alcoholic?  The functioning alcoholic will eventually just become an alcoholic (full blown) but the process doesn't happen over night.  It's hard to see that change just as it's hard to  know when you are enabling someone vs. loving, supporting them.  Like the story with the mom and daughter.
I dunno- I just guess there is a thin line between being helpful and sacrificing yourself.  I guess the definitive line comes when you are sacrificing more of yourself to help someone else.  Still...it's an awful thin line.....
Would you agree?

Hi Samantha. I'm glad you enjoyed the article. It's an interesting
one. The co-dependency topic always seems to strike a chord with
people LOL.

This site may provide some help in the characteristics of the co-
dependency topic. I hate the word co-dependent. However, it always
comes bundled up with enmeshment, enabling, engulfment etc.

especially interested in the part about co-dependancy.  I was
once 'diagnosed' as a codependant by a therapist and never really
felt like it was appropriate.  The article Mr. Rolph quoted about
codependancy was right on.  I think that the primary reason we are
all here dealing with people who are psychopathic is very simple- we
all are unabashedly human and have a willingness and desire to help
those we love and care about.  We stick around because we think we
can help without really realizing we are being abused.  To call that
co-dependancy is well.....psychopathic in an of itself.  Just my two-
cents.....
