Hi New Member,
Don't see your name. My name is Tawny, I live in n.e. TX. and was diagnosed
with ankylosing spondylitis in 1992. In 2002 the rhematologist noticed the pits
in my finger nails, been there off and on for years. I didn't think anything
about them, but he asked about flaking skin and some other questions and had me
get some of these spots on the back of neck and hairline biopsied and found out
that my diagnosis has changed to psoriatic arthritis spondylitis differential,
PASD. He said what it meant was that, when I think I hurt, I really do, so I'm
not crazy afterall. Also have Raynaud's to go wtih all of that and makes
circulation act up and typing difficult. so excuse the typos. Fingers are kind
of shaky right now.

enough about me. tell us about yourself. been quiet on thelist fora while.
Will flag your msg and check your sites later
ttyl
Blessings
Tawny
PS. hope it's okay to post these site/group links on the group. Let me know if
it's a no no and I won't do it again. Not wanting to chip animals or pay
premise ID when we are already buying the land and have paid for our animals and
their feed and vet bills too. enough is enough on taxing.

I agree with you on this topic Ginger. I have been diagnosed with psoriatic
arthritis spondylitis differential and was told that when I said i hurt, i
really do, nice to know that it's not all my imagination. But wish I had know
before I was too disabled for surgery or any medication available to help.
Can't take new or old meds to because of heart & lung challenges, blood
pressure, sleep apnea, oh lots of fun things that make each day a challenge.

So we got chickens and a few goats to make us get up. we've lost 100 lbs total
together in the past 2 years. Have pics too. No it hasn't cured anything. but
being able to move a little easier does help. Muscle relaxers and i found some
absorbine jr too. spearmint scented. Can't say where of even if its good. was
told it's against federal law, now in TX. oh best part, I can put on socks now
without asking dh to help me.

night all.

I am disturbed by the fact that people can post messages & send emails
through this site that are pornographic in nature or are links to
porno sites. My understanding was that this was a place for people who
suffer from psoriatic inflammatory arthritis to meet & exchange
information related to this disease. If porno is your thing, limit
yourself to sharing info related to that to sites that deal with that
& keep it out of other places such as this site. It's

CAM.......... Arthritis Pain Management
According to the Arthritis Foundation nearly 66 million Americans have some
form of arthritis. There are more than one hundred identified varieties of
arthritis some of the most common are osteoarthritis, gout, and fibromyalgia.
With the millions of individuals living life in a fog of pain it is shocking
that there is no treatment that totally alleviates the pain and stiffness
associated with this terrible debilitating disease.
Many arthritis sufferers use a combination of conventional pain relievers and
anti-inflammatory drugs. Recently some of these drugs have been called into
question and in fact been pulled off the market after discovery that they may
cause more harm than good. As a result of this loss of faith in prescription
drugs many have turned to using alternative methods to aid in their pain
management.
Professionals even have a name for the use of alternative methods, Complimentary
and Alternative Medicine also known by the acronym CAM.
Some of the more common CAM in use requires the participation of a
professional in your treatment such as massage, yoga, acupuncture, biofeedback,
and homeopathy.
Still other CAM is based on diet, either reducing consumption of inflammatory
items or by consuming items that reduce inflammation and relieve pain.
Some Complimentary Alternative Medicines that are natural pain relievers
commonly available either as supplements or in our food are quercetin, kava
kava, gamma linoleic acid, flaxseed, fish oil, cat's claw, devils claw, comfrey
root, cayenne pepper, bee venom, and one of the most effective because it is
both a natural anti-inflammatory and a potent pain reliever is Montmorency Tart
Cherry Concentrate.
Reading on Arthritis Today's website at www.arthritis.org according to
Rheumatologist James McKoy, MD when asked what he thought of tart cherry juice
for arthritis relief he stated. “ Though it has not been proven in clinical
trials, yes, I believe that drinking tart cherry juice mixed with water...may be
beneficial for some people with arthritis. In traditional medicine, the fruit of
sour cherry has been used orally for arthritis and gout...Cherries also contain
varied antioxidants, including kaempferol and quercetin. These compounds,
particularly quercetin, may have anti-inflammatory effects that are similar to
those of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin and
ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin).”
It is important to point out here that not all cherries are created equal.
There are many varieties of cherry produced today but studies show that the
Montmorency Tart Cherry is the most effective as a CAM for arthritis sufferers.

you care about these words.

Hi there,

I am SAM, an Iraqi refugee living in Lebanon at the moment; I have spent the
last 10 years of my life as a refugee registered with the UNHCR in Beirut. The
last 4 years, I have spent as an activist for peace and human rights (especially
refugees and asylum seekers) on the Internet; I'm also books author and ebooks
publisher. I have launched many campaigns to improve our situation as refugees
in Lebanon and hopefully bring more understanding to our problems worldwide. I
helped make many changes and improvements at the UNHCR office in Beirut; I used
the Internet as the field for my activities (you can read more about that in my
free ebook 'MY CAMPAIGNS'). All my ebooks are free and could be download from my
sites.

This is my newest campaign, it's about the illegal and humiliating actions of
the UNHCR, who using photos of refugees as banners and human-buttons to collect
money. This is an abuse of the dignity and humanity of the refugees and must
stop immediately and a clear public apology present by The United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees. My friends, I am talking about the pictures you can
see here: http://unhcr4.beplaced.com
Where you can read the rest of this message as web page.

Also you can read my new campaign 'Urgent, we need smile' here:
http://unhcrlebanon.1website.net/smile.html

For more info about UNHCR and life of refugees you can read my free ebooks. I
invite you as fellow humans and members of the world community to support my
campaign by reading my article on my site and see the human-buttons. The
campaign is to support and improve the UNHCR http://www.unhcr.ch especially
after the last scandals in the UN and UNHCR, just for example: The refugees
allege that UNHCR staff is selling most of the food items they are supposed to
be supplied.
"They aren't supplying sufficient food to us because they sell most of the food
items," they allege: http://allafrica.com/stories/200503140214.html

Here is another example: Burmese Refugees Withdraw Protest Against UNHCR
http://www.mizzima.com/archives/news-in-2005/news-in-april/12-April05-22.htm

"We make demonstration and fast because the UNHCR office in Cairo did nothing
for our problem..." http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4440730.stm

Together we will build better world.

Can I just ask if anyone knows anything about psoriasis and how it can
affect eyes. My partner has some small patches in his eyebrows that have
slowly moved down towards his eyes, into the corner. He rubs at them now and
complains about soreness.
He is even getting patches on the soles of his feet.

Has anyone else been through this with their eyes? It's a worry - his
psoriasis is spreading everywhere, even on the soles of his feet!

Jo.

   Hello Leda,
I discovered what I have by changing rheumatoligists. The doctor I saw for
seven years was treating me for lupus. But when I switched my new doctor
said she felt I had been incorrectly diagnosed & changed my whole treatment
regimen.I don't actually have psoriasis myself but there is a strong history
of it in my family. It mostly affects the small joints like the fingers but
can also affect the spine. One can have psoriasis without developing the
arthritis & one can have the arthritis without developing psoriasis. You can
get more info at your local arhtritis association.Your vision problems are
more likely to be related to your migraines.I base that on my experience
working in neurology for a number of years.
Hopefully, this info will be of some benefit to you.
   Take care,

     Leda,

I am interested in how you found out that you had psoriatic arthritis?
What
are the symptoms to know that one has it, versus arthritis or just
psoriasis? I have had the same patch on my elbow for about as long as
you.
It gets worse, clears up somewhat, but never goes away, and then gets
worse
again. I have arthritis of the hip and knee on the left side of my
body.
And I have foggy vision in my right eye, but I attributed that to having
dealt with migraines on the right side of my head and eyeball for as
many
     years.

I am a 43 yr old woman just diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis this past
year. The symptoms seem to wander--I had pain and inflammation in my
right
knee for months, now the knee is better but my right wrist has been
affected for over a month. I try to avoid taking anti-inflammatory drugs
unless absolutely necessary, but I do have some prescription strength
ibuprofen on hand just in case. I have also just started experimenting
with
some dietary changes generally recommended for arthritis of all types,
namely cutting down on dairy, nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant,
     peppers), and coffee.

Two other symptoms that appeared along with the arthritis, and which
I've
read often go together as part of this disease are slight pits in my
fingernails and occasional blurred vision in one eye. The skin symptom,
which on me usually manifests as small outbreaks on both elbows and one
knee, does not seem to have worsened, and is pretty much the same as it
has
been for the past 16 years since it first appeared.

I am still learning about this disease and what I can do minimize its
     impact on my life.

     Leda

felt I had been incorrectly diagnosed & changed my whole treatment regimen.I
don't actually have psoriasis myself but there is a strong history of it in my
family. It mostly affects the small joints like the fingers but can also affect
the spine. One can have psoriasis without developing the arthritis & one can have
the arthritis without developing psoriasis. You can get more info at your local
arhtritis association.Your vision problems are more likely to be related to your
migraines.I base that on my experience working in neurology for a number of
years.
Hopefully, this info will be of some benefit to you.
Take care,
Joan

   Leda,

I am interested in how you found out that you had psoriatic arthritis? What
are the symptoms to know that one has it, versus arthritis or just
psoriasis? I have had the same patch on my elbow for about as long as you.
It gets worse, clears up somewhat, but never goes away, and then gets worse
again. I have arthritis of the hip and knee on the left side of my body.
And I have foggy vision in my right eye, but I attributed that to having
dealt with migraines on the right side of my head and eyeball for as many
   years.

I am a 43 yr old woman just diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis this past
year. The symptoms seem to wander--I had pain and inflammation in my right
knee for months, now the knee is better but my right wrist has been
affected for over a month. I try to avoid taking anti-inflammatory drugs
unless absolutely necessary, but I do have some prescription strength
ibuprofen on hand just in case. I have also just started experimenting with
some dietary changes generally recommended for arthritis of all types,
namely cutting down on dairy, nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant,
   peppers), and coffee.

Two other symptoms that appeared along with the arthritis, and which I've
read often go together as part of this disease are slight pits in my
fingernails and occasional blurred vision in one eye. The skin symptom,
which on me usually manifests as small outbreaks on both elbows and one
knee, does not seem to have worsened, and is pretty much the same as it has
been for the past 16 years since it first appeared.

I am still learning about this disease and what I can do minimize its
   impact on my life.

   Leda

Initially I found out because I became alarmed by these seemingly random
symptoms I was newly experiencing--for me the change in fingernail texture,
painful joints that were not injury-based, and occasional blurred vision.
Believe it or not, I just did a google search simply listing these
symptoms, and immediately came up with a list of sites on psoriasis. I had
not known there could be any connection between them. I then went to a
doctor who confirmed my "diagnosis".

Hey Liza:

It would help to give more information e.g. what meds you on now and where on.
What is your current condition status. What your age that would help.

   Take care

Hi,

My name is Daniel Fuller and I am the project coordinator for a research project
entitled
T.A.M.E. (Tempering Arthritis by Managing Exercise). Dr. Nancy Gyrucsik who is a
professor at the University of Saskatchewan is leading this project. We are
looking for
participants to be in a study to look at what stops women with all forms of
arthritis from
being physically active.

Who can participate?
Any woman aged 21 and over who has been diagnosed with arthritis by a doctor and
lives
in Canada can participate in the study.

How can I participate?
To participate, you will need to complete a survey. The survey will ask you a
number of
questions about what keeps or doesn't keep you from exercising? ALL PARTICIPANTS
AND
THEIR ANSWERS WILL BE ANONYMOUS!

How can I do the survey?
To participate go online to www.tamearthritis.net and fill out the survey.
Please complete
the survey in one sitting and do not hit the Browser back button. The survey
should take
15-20 minutes to complete.

How will the information from the survey be used?
Results will be used to create a measure of barriers to physical activity for
women with
arthritis. The measure will then help us identify the barriers that prevent
activity the most.
Knowing this will help with designing better programs to help women better deal
with
barriers, be active and manage their arthritis.

This Project is important and we would appreciate your help.
     1) Regular physical activity participation is a key strategy to help women
cope with this
incurable disease. Regular physical activity has been found to help women with
arthritis
feel better, physically, mentally and emotionally.
     2) 75% of people with arthritis do not participate in regular physical
activity.

If you would like more information about this study please feel free to contact
me at
tame@.... Please feel free to forward this email to friends or relatives
who are
affected by any form of arthritis. The more participants we can get for this
study the better
our information will be.

Thank you for your time,

Daniel Fuller

Thought I should pass on my knowledge to all you guys (and gals) on here. I know
like heaps of men I am pretty shy when it comes to going up to someone. I've
tried a few different places (clubs, bars, etc) but never seem to have too much
luck. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I joined up to
http://www.onlinemeetingplace.info/egtr and I have to say I am already getting
excited. I was beginning to think I'd end up being alone for ever, but already
been talking to a few interestedladies on there. Anyway, if you're like me it
comes highly recommended!
