Hi Brenda,

Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis can be very difficult diseases to manage and I
surely understand that. With your busy schedule your using all your energy and
that will exacerbate things. You really need to try and pace yourself and rest
when you need to. I know that is easier said than done, but this disease gets
very opportunistic when we stress ourselves.

I'm currently taking Enbrel, Methotrexate and Celebrex. I have had one epidural
steroid injection on my lower spine this year and one steroid shot in my left
foot. I use a little prednisone PRN, but I actually have not taken any since
Jan. I'm doing pretty well with that regimen. I have tried to just take Enbrel
or Methotrexate, but I can't seem to manage with just one. I need the
combination of the two to really control the disease. I have been able to cut
back on the Methotrexate dose since starting Enbrel. I went on Enbrel 2 years
ago and was taking 20mg of Methotrexate per week then. I'm now down to 12.5mg
per week. Methotrexate is a good drug for P and PA, but it does tend to cause
more side effects at the higher dosages for me. I get more fatigue and a little
stomach distress when I get over 15mg per week.

I've tried every medication under the sun in the 24 years I've had this disease
and I've had various side effects and meds that did nothing. I do think the new
biologics like Enbrel hold the most promise. I would look into that if you can.
My fingers were so swollen I couldn't wear a ring before I started Enbrel. I
can easily do that now. I have some deformity in the joints that wil never go
away, but the swelling is drastically reduced and that means the pain is also
much better.

green...i also carry a strep virus in my blood.. i am researching viatiam
theropy right now using viat..d...because the sun has this in it i can lay out
in the sun durning the summer and my psorasis is clearer...but i am one that is
in constant pain and viox doesnt help me..i am on stronger pain pills, just to
even get out of bed in the mornings is a chanlenge...i also work straight 9 and
sometimes 10 hours a day 6 days a week just to make my bills...when my husband
of 17 yrs found out i had the psoriatic arthritis, he decided i was
expendable...i supported him 11 of those yrs...so now i have only my family, and

I have had Psoriasis since 1982 and Psoriatic Arthritis since 1983 and have been
on disability from it since October 2002. You don't do on disability because of
a disorder. I've had my share of people selling snake oil in the 20+ years I
have had this disease.
