Re: [Psoriatic-Arthritis] (unknown)

Hi Brenda,

Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis can be very difficult diseases to manage and I
surely understand that. With your busy schedule your using all your energy and
that will exacerbate things. You really need to try and pace yourself and rest
when you need to. I know that is easier said than done, but this disease gets
very opportunistic when we stress ourselves.

I'm currently taking Enbrel, Methotrexate and Celebrex. I have had one epidural
steroid injection on my lower spine this year and one steroid shot in my left
foot. I use a little prednisone PRN, but I actually have not taken any since
Jan. I'm doing pretty well with that regimen. I have tried to just take Enbrel
or Methotrexate, but I can't seem to manage with just one. I need the
combination of the two to really control the disease. I have been able to cut
back on the Methotrexate dose since starting Enbrel. I went on Enbrel 2 years
ago and was taking 20mg of Methotrexate per week then. I'm now down to 12.5mg
per week. Methotrexate is a good drug for P and PA, but it does tend to cause
more side effects at the higher dosages for me. I get more fatigue and a little
stomach distress when I get over 15mg per week.

I've tried every medication under the sun in the 24 years I've had this disease
and I've had various side effects and meds that did nothing. I do think the new
biologics like Enbrel hold the most promise. I would look into that if you can.
My fingers were so swollen I couldn't wear a ring before I started Enbrel. I
can easily do that now. I have some deformity in the joints that wil never go
away, but the swelling is drastically reduced and that means the pain is also
much better.

Hang in there!

David

You're welcome. I just get really tired sometimes of these people who want to
make a quick buck off of us. If they really had a product that worked they
would know something about the disease Psoriasis and they would not make stupid
mistakes like lumping Psoriasis in with skin diseases that are actually
disorders as opposed to immune mediated diseases. There is quite a significant
difference. It's sad that Psoriasis is so misunderstood that this kind of thing
happens. Imagine the outrage that would occur if someone tried to sell a
miracle ointment that was supposed to cure cancer? Its really the same error,
but people know cancer is a serious disease and Psoriasis is not viewed in the
same light. Only about 400 people die each year from Psoriasis in the USA so
the statistics don't get the attention, but the fact remains that Psoriasis is a
serious disease and one that causes some harsh emotional problems for people who
suffer from it. To add insult to injury you then have
people trivialize Psoriasis like in the spam email posted to this site.

I have had Psoriasis since 1982 and Psoriatic Arthritis since 1983 and have been
on disability from it since October 2002. You don't do on disability because of
a disorder. I've had my share of people selling snake oil in the 20+ years I
have had this disease.

David Bruce <stubruce2003@...> wrote:Psoriasis is not a "disorder," it is
a "immune mediated disease." It has been determined to originate from a problem
with chromosome 17 and is closely linked to rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. The
very idea of putting Psoriasis in the same grouping with acne and eczema is
insulting to anyone with the chronic disease Psoriasis. When people like you
learn about the diseases you try to sell people products for maybe we would take
you serious. I doubt that will ever happen.

libertyvideo <libertyvideo@...> wrote:I apologize if you consider this
spam, but when I see people
suffering, I just have to help. I have diabetes and a family friend
gave me a lotion that his company makes for the military and medical
institutions. It's not prescription....but it's not sold to the
public either. I used this "conditioner" on my very callused feet
as well as my rough elbows. it was wonderful! My friend gave me a
large supply of this lotion to sell locally to help supplement my
income (I'm on disability retirement).

The reaction from my customers was fantastic. Reports of how this
lotion cleared up their eczema, acne, psoriasis and other skin
disorders....became a local legend. I started to sell this
conditioner on eBay....and I have 100% positive feedback. Check out
the customer testimonial who was using Elidel.

I hate seeing people pay "through the nose" and I priced my product
low to help as many people as I can.

Please....just check out my eBay auctions at:

Then check out my website below to see what a bargain you are
getting on eBay. I hope you get the results you're looking for.

Kind regards
