Re: [PozHealth] Interesting Hypothesis To Control HIV/AIDS Nutritionally

While an optimum mix of vitamins, minerals, and other supplements is essential in maximizing health, I am unaware of any significant direct impact that these can have on the virus.  A few percent of people have some genetic protection against HIV disease protection .. about 2% from what I have read in the literature.  The rest of us have to deal eventually with the (#@$%$#!$) meds.

Selenium (brand Selenomax) is said to result in an increase of CD4 cells, and mine did go from 250 to 390 during the several months I tried it.  However, since CD4 counts bounce around (and my percent CD4 cells stayed constant during this period) I am not sure that my experience has any medical significance.  If you search on line you will find some clinical study information on this mineral.

There have a variety of "fear of iron" articles, which typically are found to be in error. Iron has a narrower "safety index" than many other nutrients, but if...

In doing a brief search, I find limited clear or conclusive data on iron and HIV, beyond the Abrams study, that gives support for optimizing iron in the body...
