RE: Great Help For Soaring Grocery Bills!

This was such an unexpected source of relief I am still crying whenever I think
about it. My husband was recently laid off and needless to say that threw us
into an immediate financial crisis. Here's where I unexpectedly found hope. Last
Thursday I was walking to my car after finding out about my husband being laid
off. I couldn't help but sob. A woman in the lot stopped me and asked if
everything was okay. Not to burden anyone, I told her about my husband being
laid off and left it at that. With that she reached in her pocket book and
handed me a booklet and insisted that I take it. She told me that someone gave
it to her when she was in financial trouble. She went on to say that she is no
longer financially burdened and she wants to help me. With that she left and
disappeared into the large lot. I got home and decided to try this program and
sure enough, I was able to save $ 68.01 and only had to pay $12.20 for $80.21
worth of groceries for only $ 18.36! She must have been an angel. I am crying as
I type this. This program is being offered at http://savingmorethanbefore.com I
don't know what I would have done if I didn't meet that wonderful lady!

I've been trying to live with it but it affects everything. It got to the point
were my relationship with the father of my child almost ended. He gets so
frustrated he has to keep reminding me things and says I shouldn't have problems
the way I do. He's always telling me...no screaming at me "You're not right in
the head! How you can forget what I just said?" I don't have ne family members
to support me so it's just me and him and our son. He only speaks to his Father
so I have no one. They don't understand that I really struggle with this. They
think I'm a hypocondriac (how ever you spell it). I've been busting my butt by
myself since...umm...my some was born on the 6th I was rushed back to the
hospital on the 9th and discarged the 12th all within the same month...so since
the 12th (3 days after I was diagnosed) I was home alone taking care of a
newborn and on top of that I just got done with having a c-section. I've been
taking it a day at a time. I'm a very strong willed person but my patience is
running thin. Now I'm just running ragged. I can't even get a job because at my
interveiws I can't answer the questions because I get confused. I just need a
support group I guess haha since I don't have one at home.

I'm a survivor of viral meningitis and a year later I still have problems. I can
deal with the confusion, learn disability, clumsiness, form of dyslexia,...and
all the other fun stuff but these migraines are getting to me. They started
August 30th, 2008...6 months post-men and I've been getting them ever since. Now
I'm to the point where I get a migraine everyday and in between migraines I
constantly have a dull headache. It's been 13 months exactly and I still have
problems. My doc said it can take over a year to tell if there will b any
permanent damage. I have to see my neurologist but my PCP is taking their sweet
old time calling her. I have to get more MRI's and who knows what else. My last
MRI came out fine but I'm still having those problems...my PCP doesn't want to
give me anything for the migraines because of all the other stuff I am
experiencing. My future father-in-law even gave me one of his morphins and it
didn't help....

symptoms and common, as well can last months, I never heard of years till I
joined this group but seems everyone is so different and guess as well depends
on our immune systems. Such a very WICKED virus indeed!

Not sure if yours is related but I had a similar experience along with
continued headaches weeks after I was discharged from the hospital.

It turned out that the spinal tap process which was done left a leak
behind. I went through the blood patch procedure which provided relief
immediately. Although, its now been almost a year but some part of me
still feels that I am not 100%.

Hello Shelly,

I took only get temps up to 100 with the Post part but when the virus first
kicked in was spiking 102 so that head me to the hospital.

I get the vertigo still about 70 percent of my day, I haven't drove in going on
almost 2 months, it is indeed wicked! I too have gone through many, many
surgeries and honestly would rather did with that pain than this nightmare, even
all my docs agree I have never been so sick or more like felt so sick. My last
of the symptoms are the vertigo, headaches but they all start at the base of the
neck and of course my right ear hearing loss and ear aches, pain.

Praying there is light at the end of the tunnel for all of us! AMEN! :)
PS: Have you gotten the Meningitis vaccine yet?
Huge Hugs & Many Blessings,
Kimberly :)

Hi Kimberly,
Thank you so much for your response!

Yes, I do experience some vertigo but not all of the time. I still drive but if the headache starts in, I head home as fast as possible. Once I had to pull off the road. My fevers only get
99 or 100, not very bad at all. How about yours?

This is a very bad virus. I am a two time survivor of breast cancer and I can honestly say the cancer did not hurt, it was all the treatments and surgeries it took to get rid of it. This has been painful and, so far, I see no light at the end of the tunnel.

Thank you for sharing what you have learned through you bout with it and I'll continue to share any progress I experience.

Take good care,
Shelly

Hello All,
I had viral meningitis early December last year. I have had severe
headaches every since. They were off and on through Dec and Jan but
this month they came on with a vengeance and have not let up since.
When I realized that I took 80 Advil in 4 days, I went to the Dr
again. He mentioned post meningitis headaches and set me up for a CT
and referral to a neurologist.

That is how I found this website, THANK GOODNESS someone started it. I
thank all for sharing your stories. I know now that I'm not the only
one this is happening to and I feel more confident about my Doctors
diagnosis.

For all those who have gone though the CT and trips to the
neurologist, do you think this is a waste of time or do you recommend
me go through the process? Also, has anyone had these severe headaches
move from being the entire head and neck to primarily one side? My
latest episode started out to be the entire head and neck and moved to
my left side. Now, both eyes hurt and are sensitive to light, my
entire forehead aches and I have occasional fevers. My left temple and
jaw ache, my left sinus burns and the left side of my neck and head
throb. I was wondering if anyone shares these symptoms.

This is ruining my quality of life and I am so grateful to have people
to share this with.

Thanks Diane for the info, I have not been tested for Lyme disease but can tell
you I now have ear aches in both ears and ear pain that comes on. They did the
MRI yesterday late afternoon but won't know anything for a few days, they don't
expect to find anything either since I still believe the viral part of
Meningitis did a major number on my vertigo and light sensitivity issues, I also
get the occasional nausea when the vertigo is really bad. It is now 6 weeks but
am glad I don't have the fever, chills or sweats, tremors anymore but the
balance, ear and vertigo issues are horrible and still unable to drive. :(

I am so sorry you have went through hell and back too! This is indeed the worst
and most sick I have ever been and thats topping any surgery I have ever had!
AMEN! do they run blood work to test for Lyme disease?

Thanks so much for all the info!
Huge HUgs,
Kimberly :)

I've had it 3 times this past year and its definitely was still bad at 5 weeks. I still get headaches and it's now 9 months later.
I had the tremor but no vertigo and my fever was only there intermittantly.

Hello everyone,

I am now on 5 weeks out since getting viral meningitis. My fever,

getting the non stop migraines anymore but did have a migraine attack
but only lasted less than half a day however I have been getting

think it is far too far out since the initial viral meningitis attack
as well not having any fever, etc but as well are surprised regarding
my horrible balance issues that I honestly have not been able to
drive since 5 weeks ago and very rarely can get out of the house due
to the store lighting in most places makes my vertigo much worse.
They are doing an MRI tomorrow of my neck and brain, although went
through a CT 2 weeks ago and found nothing they are not expecting to
find anything on the MRI either however what the heck can one do for
the almost constant vertigo? I know this has to be from the virus
because prior I would have occasional vertigo with occasional
migraines but still functioned. This is just horrible! I am down to
only taking 1 advil migraine a day and 1 extra strength Tylenol which
is little compared to 800 mg of ibuprofen and 3 Tylenol's a day I
used to be on.

Any suggestions, ideas please let me know! :)

I had viral meningitis in 2004, and have had terrible headaches ever
since. I have tried every medicine, treatment, etc., that is
available, with no help. I've taken migraine medicines, Topamax,
Depakote, you name it. I've been to several different doctors, had
sinus surgery, neck surgery, and lumbar punctures. My neurosurgeon
says that I have scar tissue in my ventricles from the meningitis. In
August, 2008, I had a vp shunt put in, but was allergic to the
antibiotic that was on the shunt and tubing, so they had to take it
out. I had a small brain hemmorhage, and lost sensation in my left
side. They put another shunt in, November, 2008, without
antibiotics. The shunt is working, and we are trying to get it
adjusted to the level of fluid that my brain can handle without
getting a headache, but so far we haven't found that level, and I'm
still having headaches. Has anyone found help for their headaches?

Hello. My brother-in-law was diagnosed with Viral meningitis. He
started feelling sick last monday, the 15th, and spent five days in
the hospital. He was released Sunday. He just finally broke his
fever, but he ist still really sick. We just don't know if this is
normal...? We know it lasts about 2 weeks and sometimes longer, but
we just weren't sure. How long did your fever last? How long did it
take to feel better? They gave him pain and fever meds and that's
it. When will he start to feel better? will it be sudden?

How long has he been sick. Horrible headaches and fever are common.
For some people they end in a few weeks and for others it goes on a
long time. I have chronic meningitis and have been sick on and off
since May of this year.

The surgery was a bust. I what they thought might be a hole was in
face a healed fracture from an old head injury.

I'm now having daily headaches, and low grade fevers a couple times a
week. They are still testing me for more diseases, so far:

West Nile
Lyme
MS
Lupus
Mixed Connective Tissue Disorder (autoimmune)
Herpes
Syphilis
HIV
TB
a whole bunch of other autoimmune diseases..
and they are all coming back negative...

Should have gone to med school!

Morning all....

My friend was diagnosed three years ago with both types of meningitis
( at different times ). She is now suffering from the horrible post-
meningitis headaches, that also spark up some hellacious lumps and
bumps on her neck. They are tender to the touch, and her neck often
feels as if it cannot hold her head up.

She has been from doc to doc to doc to doc, without any relief or
information on what these lumps actually are.

Has anyone else experienced these lumps? I would like to help her
out anyway possible.

Thanks!
