Laura,

Your instance sounds very similar to my wife's. She was diagnosed
with viral meningitis. After about 4 days, she felt like it was
gone. She was discharged from the hospital. The doctors (including
2 neuros) did not warn us of any reoccurring symptoms. My wife had
headaches for about 3-4 weeks after she was discharged from the
hospital. After the first reoccuring headache 3 days after her
discharge, which included a mild fever and vomitting, we took her
back to the hospital. Shockingly, the doctors said it was rare for
the symptoms to reoccur and suggested it was a "complicated
migraine." We thought this was weird because she had no history of
migraines, and the migraines did not explain her running a mild fever
(which is a sign of the body fighting some sort of infection). She
finally went to her GP, who referred her to another neuro. That neuro
said it was fairly normal for symptoms to reoccur and expected them
to go away after some time, which they did after about 4-5 weeks.
However, if you read some of the old posts from this forum, you will
see that some are not so lucky and still have headaches well
afterwards. I wish you the best of luck.

I would definitely stay in touch with your GP. Sometimes viral isn't viral. I've been sick for 15 weeks of the last 24 but only the first few were really bad....
