Hi fellow sufferers, I got Meningitis three years and a half years ago. It
lasted for 4 months. I went through several trips to the hospital for the next
two years with repeated severe headache, photophobia and neck stiffness and
pain.
I finally realized that it was the weather causing the bouts of recurring
symptoms. When the barometric pressure drops below 30 the brain and cerebral
spinal fluid swell and can cause recurring meningitis symptoms. I also started
having symptoms that were really weird. I felt like bugs were always crawling on
my legs. My brain felt like it was burning and tingling. The bottom of my feet
felt like I was walking on little sharp rocks. I would have sudden stabbing
pains in randome parts of my body. If I got to warm all my symptoms were worse.
I spent hours and hours researching which was extremely difficult with my head
on fire and my brain swelling. I finally found a forum like this where a woman
listed these symptoms and said if anyone was having these symptoms look up
arachnoiditis. I did and I have nearly every symptom.
I spent the next year going from one neurologist to the other and was diagnosed
with every kind of headache possible. When I would tell them I thought I had
arachnoiditis they would immediately start to treat me like a criminal.
I am 54 years old. A mother of 13 and the grandmother of 17 and an ex practical
nurse. Not a criminal. I finally contacted one of only a hand full of
specialists on arachnoiditis and will soon go to see him for a deffinate
diagnoses. They said nearly every arachnoiditis patient they see tells them the
same story about doctors treating them badly.
If you have any of the symptoms I listed you may have arachnoiditis. Look it up.
