Profound thanks to those who expressed their condolences re the loss of my
fabulous Betty dog. I guess I should rejoice that I had her so long considering
she was half Rottie and only God knows what else. Big dog. My first dog. I
certainly hope this pain will leave quickly.
I lived/worked abroad 20+ years in just about all parts of the world. What we
find is that even in poor countries most of their drugs are not made there. Most
come from European satellite companies. That's been my experience. I would bet
that most meds in Mexico are not processed there either. But there are some
countries like Pakistan and India where drugs are highly produced and if one
gets the legitimately manufactured drug it's the same as those processed in the
US. Sometimes better because you can't even get the drug here. The DEA and our
medical system want Americans to buy American. So I think we have to make a
distinction between internet "pushing" and legitimate foreign produced drugs
that are fine...and CHEAP. Personally I find it scandalous that I have to pay
$250 for a one month disc of Advair (asthma med). Something has got to change.
I remember when I lived in the UK I'd pay less than 1 pound for my meds.
Incredible.
Did anybody see that film Sicko? Wow, I about wanted to pick up and head out.
Really interesting film in terms of the comparison of health care systems in
different countries.
Anyway, I do the best I can so I don't end up under a bridge. I don't think
anybody is suggesting to others that one go the foreign drug route - just
expressing our experiences and hoping all the best for others in the group.
