This group welcomes Peer Support Specialists, those who wish to become a PSS, and folks who are interested in the current state of this profession.

Sky envisioned this group as being a supportive environment for Peer Support Specialists to share skills, resources, difficulties, triumphs, job openings, information, etc. Please feel free to make announcements about meetings, trainings, conferences, and events on the local, regional, state and national levels. IMPORTANT FYI: Our group's Calendar and Links are now open to public viewing, so please keep that in mind when posting to these sections.

Anyone wishing to "join" this group must first be approved (this avoids spammers, I'm told). Everyone will be on "moderated" status for their first few weeks as members. Everything about this group will grow, change, and evolve as WE do...both as individuals and as a group.

Since Sky started this group on August 30, 2007 (when she only had one day of PSS training to complete at Mountainhouse in Asheville, NC), she's sorry to say that she has spent precious little time "growing" it.

We are VERY lucky that Ray has agreed to take over as Owner of this group. He has been doing most of the work involved in running this group for a couple of years now. Sky would like to take this opportunity to thank Ray for his great skill and willing help. Sky will remain as a Moderator for now.

This group was originally intended to be solely for residents of North Carolina, so please excuse any seeming "bias" in content relating to that region of the U.S.
