Whether it is called Pee Shy, Bashful Bladder, Shy Bladder or any of several other names (like paruresis), almost everyone knows what this is. But for some people, both men and WOMEN, this condition effects every aspect of their daily lives.
People with a severe form of pee shy can not pee when others are anywhere near by, but can pee normally in the privacy of their own bathroom when no one is around. Further, they avoid situations where they might not be able to find a private toilet to use. They may give up vacations, travel, jobs, schooling, and countless other opportunities all because of a severe Pee Shy problem. This can cause families great difficulties and they never know why. Most people who are Pee Shy often never mention it to anyone, not even their spouse, and they typically carry it with them from childhood through their adult years.
There is no detectable physical disease associated with people who suffer with a severe Pee Shy problem. If you are having trouble peeing in complete privacy, you should see a urologist and get your plumbing checked out. This group is not for you.
This Pee Shy group is for those who are Pee Shy, whether young or old, man, woman, boy, or girl; and those who need to deal with them, whether as a friend, a spouse, or a professional. For the most part, we will use common terms here rather then fancy medical ones (pee instead of urinate). A little humor will help us feel comfortable with a very difficult subject, but bad and off-color material is not what we are about here.
