Thanks for those of you who are introducing yourselves - I hope that
this will be a productive time for all of us.
I am not sure if I can sustain a daily issue, but I will for a while
until we start getting input and ideas from other people.
Participation! Spread it around.
I would like to make some administrative notes or guides if you will.
1. NO SPAM - No Advertisements or recruiting pitches unless it is for
Parish Nursing and you are the contact person. The same for
Educational opportunities - if it pertains to Parish or
Congregational Nursing OK. I really despise SPAM (if you can't
tell)! What I really don't want to do is make this a moderated list,
that being said I will if we need to do it to control Spam or other
issues.
and
2. No Flaming! We treat everyone with the Love of Christ. This is
for an open exchange of ideas and concepts. Believe me I don't have
the answer to everything (although my children used to think so! :)),
and I am looking for input. I also don't believe in reinventing the
wheel - if I can adapt rather than reinvent I am for it.
What kind of issues would you like to see? Ethical, faith,
witnessing, healing, prayer, bible study on faith, healing, or
prayer, daily scriptures on healing, prayer, or faith?
What kind of programs have any of you attended? Is there any
continuing education programs out there? State or region or city?
By the by - I am in Panama City Beach, Florida - Home of the World's
Most Beautiful Beaches!, if anybody cares.
Computer issues? Are there Mac users out there?
What kind of computer bible study programs are you all using? What
ones would you recommend?
What books are you reading?
What reference materials are you using the most?
What scripture references do you utilize?
What is your ministries foundational scripture? (not your churches,
but yours - the parish nurse.)
How many are in the full-time ministry?
The Scripture for the day - Acts 27.25 So, men, take heart! For I
trust God and believe that what I have been told will come true.
(Complete Jewish Bible)
and Acts 17.11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in
that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched
the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. (KJV) These are
two of the scriptures that I base my ministry on. I believe that
the Word is true and available for us today. I take the Bible
seriously. I believe that God says what He means and He means what
He says. I also would like everyone that I teach and preach to to be
like the Bereans and search the scriptures and make sure that I am
saying what God is saying. The Lord knows that you don't want what I
have to offer, but you want the Living Water and the Bread of Life.
So study on, dude! (and dudettes)
As you have noticed that I am including some material from Mac
Hammond on Leadership. He has (imho) some of the best short material
on leadership and I have been using his material for years. And as
Parish Nurses we are all in a leadership position of one type or
another. And, I need all the help I can get.
Wisdom Words for Leaders
Write the Vision
by Mac Hammond
Six hundred years before the birth of Christ, the Hebrew prophet
Habakkuk wrote down some advice that could represent the key to
leadership success.
In Habakkuk 2:2, we find God saying: "Record the vision and inscribe
it on tablets, that the one who reads it may run." What he's talking
about here is writing down your vision so you'll know the direction
in which to run. I'll bet you didn't know it was God, not the
motivational gurus, who came up with the idea of writing down your
vision as a key to success.
If you want this year to be the most productive you've ever had as a
leader, take Habakkuk's advice-God's wisdom word for you today is,
"Writing."
