Roger, thank you for filling a much needed position to save this group!
In answer to your first question- yes, I believe in order to stop this spam it
will need to be moderated- if posts take a day or two to appear to save us the
spam- I am willing to wait!
Next, I will take a moment to introduce myself;
I am a parish nurse for a non-profit Christian organization that services a
county- we partner with 47 churches of all denominations to provide emergency
assistance- such as help to pay rent, utilities etc... we have a thrift store
that is open to the public, and we are the food pantry for the county. I've
worked here for 3years. As parish nurse, I am the advocate, resource and
referral- for many uninsured/underinsured adults, I help find & apply for free
or reduced cost programs for medications , I have helped in filing for
SSDI/SSI, pick Medicare part D programs... find dental care, eye care, hearing
aids for free, ...you name it!
I have 8 volunteer RN's, who along with our home ministry visitation program
and senior transportation programs, we do blood pressure screenings bi-monthly
with health awareness displays in the store for the public. In my role as PN, I
also am a member of the County Health Council, Chairman of the Coalition for
Nutrition education for those on food stamps, and on the Board of Directors for
a Christian Health clinic that will provide care for the uninsured, working
adult on a sliding scale based on family size and income.
I recently have been elected President of the Local chapter of Health Ministries
Association (which we are just starting the process of forming)
I am the historian for my church ( as well as the church's parish nurse),
historian for the organization I work for, and the Health Council (In other
words I love to scrapbook and take a lot of pictures!)
I am the mom to three fantastic children/adults- my daughters are 21 & 20 both
in college and working, still living at home, and
dear-sweet-handsome-but-a-handful-son 14, is entering high school next fall! I
have three pets- and one amazingily patient and loving husband of 22+ years.
Just Jane
