Re: [ParishNurse] Greetings!

Welcome Annie. Many blessings to you and your new
ministry. Would you be able to share the needs
assessment you used? I am about to launch one in my
congregation, but i am not thrilled with it. Feel
free to email me off list if you prefer.

Your sister in Christ,

Susan Jarvis

Hello Everyone,

My name is Annie Haddad and I am a Parish Nurse in NYC
(there are
only two others in the city, actually). I have just
begun a Health
Ministry at my parish, after completing the online
parish nurse
certifcation course at SLU (which was wonderful). I am
so happy to
know that I have a way of communicating with all of
you. I am doing
this solo and have been feeling my way, with guidance
from the Holy
Spirit. Parish Nursing has been practically unheard of
in NYC, but
so far my congregation is very enthused about it. The
response so
far has been along the lines of "What a fabulous
idea!" I have so
far developed a Health Cabinet and conducted a Parish
Health Needs
Survey, the results of which will be used to plan
programs and
support groups. Tonight and tomorrow I will be
offering our first BP
screening. I am seeing parishioners two mornings a
week in the
rectory and have begun home visits. I am also
developing a corp of
volunteers.
Please keep our new ministry in your prayers, and I
look forward to
hearing from you and to participating in many
interesting
discussions.
God bless,
Annie Haddad
Parish Nurse
Holy Trinity Church, New York City
