This group is composed of so many gifted ministers - some
new in their journey with Parish Nursing and others further
down the road. I hope you will seriously consider the
following call for papers and feel free to email me if you
have additional questions. Thanks. Vicki Hollon

A Call for Presentations
Reaching In Reaching Out: Models for Successful Health
Ministries

The Wayne E. Oates Institute invites the submission of
proposals for papers to be presented during the Fall 2004
Online Conference: Reaching In / Reaching Out: Models for
Successful Health Ministries.

This event will be a gathering for congregational leaders
and practitioners from the nursing, religious, counseling,
medical, social work, and various therapeutic professions.
Conference participants will explore diverse ministry
approaches for extending care to the whole person in both a
congregational and community context.

The Conference Objectives are:

* To examine models for health ministries that reach
inward to meet the needs of faith communities and
outward to meet community needs.
* To identify resources for supporting health ministries.
* To recognize collaborative ministries that engage
multiple disciplines or diverse leadership in health
ministries.
* To present examples of how to enlist and nurture
volunteers in the work of Health Ministries

Papers or case studies should present an approach to health
ministries that has been or is currently being used in a
congregational or community setting and addresses at least
one of the conference objectives identified above. Please
also include:

o A description of the identified need
o The context for the ministry
o The ministry plan
o The theological purpose for the ministry
o The result of the ministry

Presentations should be approximately 2,500 words and may
include photographs, graphics, images, hypertext links, and
streaming media (audio or video). To submit a presentation
proposal for this conference please include a brief synopsis
of the paper, 2-4 learning objectives, and 2-3 paragraphs of
biographical information about yourself. We follow the APA
Publication Manual as our form and style standard.

Presenters will receive free registration for the conference
and a year of membership in the Wayne E. Oates Institute.

The deadline for proposal submissions is July 30, 2004. The
deadline for submitting presentations is September 15, 2004.

Our preference is to receive proposals and final papers by
email as either Word or WordPerfect documents. You may email
them to Chris Hammon at <chris@...>.
