Hi Everyone...
Like everyone else, I'm "nose to the grindstone," (except that grindstone
is a poor choice of a word to describe what I am blessed to be doing.)
Isn't it great when one's passion can also be one's work? Mercy St. John's,
Springfield, Missouri, has recently implemented a Health Ministries Resource
Center, and I have the privilege of serving as program director. This means
that it's my work to be out and about in the community:
* assisting in development of health ministries in area churches,
* networking with others involved in this ministry,
* promoting and providing educational support through the standardized
core curriculum for preparation of Parish Nurses and Parish Nurse
Coordinators,
* developing, promoting and presenting other continuing educational
offerings.
For any who may be looking for a Basic Preparation Course I invite you to
consider our July Retreat Course here in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks:
July 24-28, 2002
Held at The Elfindale Mansion
Springfield, Missouri
$900 (includes everything except transportation here!)
For registration information or a brochure:
* call 417-885-2770 or toll free 877-360-3233 (ask for Mary or Kim)
September 16-17, the Health Ministries Resource Center will be helping bring
the Birmingham, Alabama, Care Team Network trainers to Springfield. They
will present their two-day Leadership Training Conference for community
leadership teams from churches, businesses, neighborhoods and organizations.
We are introducing the Care Team Network (www.careteam.org
<http://www.careteam.org> ) model community-wide after piloting projects in
three area churches. This is a very successful model for use in addressing
a variety of identified needs. Check out their website if you are not
familiar with this model.
* Three great national conferences for Parish Nurses and Health
Ministers this summer:
National HMA Conference, "Living Your Call to Health Ministry" June 20-23,
Asilomar Center, Monterey, California www.healthministriesassociation.org

National Wellness Conference, "Seeking Balance in a Changing World" July
14-19, Stephens Point, Wisconsin. www.nationalwellness.org/nwc

The International Westberg Symposium, "Parish Nursing: Compassionate Care"
September 25, 26, & 27 in St. Louis.

year.
God's peace be with you all as you continue to respond to God's call to this
wonderful ministry.

Subject: [ParishNurse] Where is Everyone
Hello,
It's been quite a while since anyone posted anything on this site.
Is
everyone still out there??? or has everyone been as busy as I have
been? Just wanted to write to remind everyone that this site is
still
here --- look forward to hearing the latest on what's going on.
Is anyone going to the National Wellness Conference this summer?
This
will be my 4th year and I love this meeting... and usually run into
some very nice parish nurses from around the midwest. If you are
planning on attending, perhaps we can get together while we're
there.
Hope to hear from
