Food Allergy Support Team (FAST) of SECT is a support group formed for and by parents of children who live with food allergies living in Waterford, CT and surrounding towns within Southeastern CT.

- Members will share experiences and information regarding recent food allergy concerns or obstacles encountered in everyday life. For example, members will share recipes, knowledge about "safe" manufactured baked goods and treats as well as where these might be found locally.

- The group will discuss recent food allergy research or local legislation that directly affects the children.

- This forum is also a great opportunity for those children living with food allergies to socialize with other children who have the condition, to better understand their condition and to learn to self-advocate.

- Finally, the group's goal is to raise awareness of this potentially serious health condition among families (who have yet to find out their child also has food allergies) and the community at large.


FAST was selected as the acronym for this support group because, in the most serious cases, caregivers, friends or bystanders need to act quickly to help save a life.
