Hi Tracey - I don't have any experience with night terrors but I did bring my daughter to the Pediatric Sleep Clinic at Children's Hospital when she was very young for something else. The head of that dept, Richard Ferber, Md has a book out there called "Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems" that does have a section on night terrors and nightmares.
Good luck with this. It must be horrible for you to watch.

Hello All,
Does anyone have experience with night terrors? I was told at a
recent NICU reunion that preemies are especially susceptible to
suffering from these bouts of terror. My g/g twins were born at 32
weeks on 2/1/05 and Charlotte has been plagued by them ever since
(Grace had been okay). As I understand it, her eyes are open and she
appears awake but she is caught in a nightmare. Screaming to the
point of hyperventilation and causing her to vomit. It is so terrible
to watch and all you can do is comfort her. I was in tears right
along with her last night. My husband had to comfort both of us.
Does anyone have any advice? Thank you. Sleepless and desperate...
