I just wanted to let you all know how thrilled I am with the response for this raffle basket. We have a wicker laundry basket and it is full. Once I get everything and pack it up pretty, its going to look just great!!!! Thank you all so much for your generosity!
There is something that has come to my attention though. As things stand a Satanist group will be represented at BNPPD. If that does not change and we choose to apply the funds raised by this basket to PPD Angela will not be able have the raffle at her store. She has been working very hard to get her shop up and going and despell the idea that she and her shop have satanist connections. To ask her to step back from that for our convenience would be wrong.
Personally I agree with her objections. While Satanists may be under represented and misunderstood, they are not a pagan group. Their beliefs stem from Christian doctrine. Also, too many of us who are pagan and have come out have to fight the notion that paganism and satanism are connected on a regular basis.
If no change is made regarding this by the PPD planners I would prefer to donate the money raised by the basket elsewhere. I have three ideas on this:
1. One of the animal shelters that has contributed to PPD's dessert and divination in the past.
2. Food Pantry
3. Angela has a customer who will be participating in a cancer walk. She needs to raise 2500 for this event. We could donate funds to her for this event.
Let me know what you all think.
