Many parents in Indiana are busy raising and caring for children with
disabilities and special health care needs. Our families are
important parts of our state, our local communities, our schools and
workplaces. Too often our perspective is not adequately represented
when various policy-makers make decisions about programs and services
that impact our children and our families. Family Voices of Indiana
hopes to create a more comprehensive more effective vehicle for
families to be heard and to participate in all levels of public
policy decisions that impact our families. We seek to include
families of children with all types of disabilities and special
needs, recognizing that our voices are louder when they are heard
together.
Family Voices does not intend to replace any of the existing parent
support networks or groups. Instead we hope to provide an avenue for
all family support groups and networks to work together to ensure
that the perspective
of families is always represented.
A Yahoo list serve has been created to allow timely dissemination of
information on policy issues and opportunities for families to give
input. As someone whose family is directly affected by disability
issues, you are encouraged to sign up for this list serve by

Please share information about Family Voices with other families that
might be interested. Experience shows us that the more voices
available to speak, the greater impact we will have.
