Just a reminder of the meeting on Tuesday January 11th.  We would like to gather at 6:20 to be able to begin promptly at 6:30 and finish by 7:45.

Parents please think of theskills you would most like your child to be working on through our kids activities and let me know for planning purposes this year.  Is your top priority social interaction, turn taking, receptive/expressive language, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, attending skills, prentend play, pre-academics...  whatever the skills we want to try to provide activites to help develop those areas.  On the 11th we will try our hand at a wonderful new box game we found over break that we liked so much we bought an extra one for when the first one has lost or broken peices we can continue to enjoy it from parts of the second game!  It is Cranium Cariboo and it will allow us to work on social interaction, turn taking, matching, color, shape, letter, and number recognition and pre-reading skills.  Even my David caught on the first time through the game and played with his two brothers and I.  I remember watching a video years ago of an ABA student who had learned how to play a board game with other children and thinking how I hoped that someday David could do that too.  Sometimes I have to step back and take in the successes to re-energize for the next round.

Activity centers based at tables/centers worked well for our small group in December so we will utilize that format again for the PLAYNET Kids as long as it continues to work in the future.

Also we are excited about the IEP Conference on Friday, January 28, 2005. "Individualized Education Plans: Maximizing the Blueprint for Your Child's Effective and Appropriate Education" will be held at Saron United Churchof Christ in Linton, Indiana day session 10 am - 2 pm with a light lunch served and 5:45 - 8:45 pm.   We will have copies of the printed flyer to give to  parents to distribute as well as larger poster size we will post in public areas.  We will also advertise in the newspaper.  Sharon Hauss and Linda Witsman will be our featured guests.  With the verbage of my son's IEP in desperate need of an overhaul, I need this conference too!

Best wishes to everyone for a year of progress for our kids in 2005,

Ronda
