Recognizing the importance of family training, the IRCA is in the final stages of developing a family training module. The module will be field tested with a group of families and then a "train the trainer" model will be used to train autism mentors in school districts and parent groups to deliver training to families. PLAYNET has been selected to be one of four pilot groups to be offered the opportunity to participate in this part of the project. This presentation would be given to PLAYNET the last week in May or the first, second or fourth week of June. It would be a 2-3 hour presentation and we need at least 5 families to commit to attend and give feedback. I told them that we had a high interest in Behavioral Supports but would like each family to tell me their first and second choice from the four topics below and your level of interest in participating in this program. Do we have five families who will commit to attending the presentation and providing feedback?  The topics to choose from are:  Introduction to Autism  Behavioral Supports  Education and Instruction  Resources for Families  As was mentioned because this is part of a project we have certain requirements
as mentioned earlier: 1. We must have five families participate 2. We would want immediate feedback after the presentation about what was helpful, what was not and what may have been left out or more helpful 3. There will be a pre-training and post-training "test" to see if the presentation accomplished the goals (there is no "grading" this is just a part of checking the effectiveness of this training). 4. We would like to schedule the meeting/presentation for the last week in May or the first, second or fourth week of June. Certainly during a regular meeting time if at all possible.
