Dear Subscriber, I hope you are enjoying the holiday season. I have a few items to report: 1. Just Published (Oct. '05)! The newly revised and updated 328-page manual for parents and physicians, "Autism: Effective Biomedical Treatments, by Jon B. Pangborn, Ph.D. and Sidney M. Baker, M.D. Earlier editions of this book have revolutionized the biomedical approach to the diagnosis and treatment of autism, PDD and related disorders. This edition also includes an extensive index. To order this book, visit ARI's website: www.AutismResearchInstitute.com 2. We recently uploaded to the Internet the second recovered autistic children video, which was filmed at our October, 2005 Long Beach DAN! conference. The event featured Cindy Goldenberg, and her son, Garrett, whose recovery inspired Drs. Baker, Pangborn, and me to organize the first Defeat Autism Now! (DAN!) meeting in 1995. The video also includes 10 other recovered autistic children. You can watch this truly exciting video, along with the first recovered autistic children video, at: www.Autism-RecoveredChildren.org 3. We have also uploaded the presentations from the Long Beach DAN! Conference, October 28 to 30, 2005. The Internet address is: www.DANWebcast.com. You can view lectures on cutting-edge of biomedical treatments for no charge in the comfort of your own home. The presentations from the Boston DAN! conference, held in April, 2005, are still available on this website. 4. ARI has begun a study to identify effective -- and ineffective -- treatments for high-functioning autistic individuals and Asperger syndrome. If your son or daughter has been diagnosed as HFA or Asperger's, we would appreciate your completing our treatment survey located at: www.AspergerTreatmentRatings.com 5. If you have not yet made a donation to ARI, please consider making a year-end donation to help our efforts to fund "research that makes a difference" on autism and to distribute information on how best to treat autistic children. The Charity Navigator, the largest independent evaluator of non-profit organizations, has again given ARI its highest rating, 4 stars. We are the only autism organization so honored. Our postal address is: ARI, 4182 Adams Avenue, San Diego, CA 92116. You can also make a donation using PayPal (www.autismwebsite.com/ari/pub/paypal.htm). Sincerely, Bernard Rimland, Ph.D. ARI, Director San Diego, California +++++++++++++++++++++++++ If you would like to be removed from our email list, please visit the site: <http://www.feat.org/scripts/wa.exe?SUBED1=arinews&A=1> If you would like to change your email address, please visit the site: <http://www.feat.org/scripts/wa.exe?SUBED1=arinews&A=1> You will need to delete your old email address (leave the list) and then add your new email address (join the list).
