I had a TIA this past June, and I have migraines with aura. Although my migraines have really calmed down alot over the past couple years. The Dr's said that my TIA was the cause of birth control pills and migraines with aura and to top it off the found that I have a PFO. So they do want to close the PFO, but Im so scared about what the side effects will be.

Violet~ I thought I read that you had to have the device removed because you were allergic to it? Did you have that done?

and cause symptoms like flashing geometric patterns in my visual
field, one sided numbness and weakness, extreme vertigo and
confusion. These auras only got worse after my PFO closure,
unfortunately. If you are just having migraine auras and no history
of stroke, I would suggest you really think about getting the
closure. There has been alot of evidence lately that people have
worse migraines after the procedure. Mine are worse than ever, and I
wish I had just stayed on the blood thinners, and not had the
closure.
I use verapamil at 480 mg to help control my auras and migraines.
When they get really bad, I used steroids.
