Re: [PFOSupport] Strokes

I have had 2 strokes, and I am glad that I had the surgery to prevent any more from happening.  The surgery itself was a very mild experience, with almost no pain.  Just a little discomfort when they were placing the device in my heart because it made it beat irregularly for like a second or so.  Then it was over.  I was up and walking around the hospital in just a few hours after the surgery.  That night I walked my surgeon down the hall to the elevators.  It was no big deal.

This woman was 30 years old and had a disabling stroke because of a
pfo. She was 3 years younger than I am now! Why am I nervous of having
this procedure done when this is the possibility of what can happen if
I don't! I don't know why this bothers me so much, it doesn't look
like it is that sever of an operation it's just that they will be
inside my heart and with that fact alone it leaves the possibility of
so many bad things that could happen. I don't know ignore me I guess I
just needed to vent.
