Hi Dawn,
A PFO is a hole in the heart that you are born with.  Research is being done now to see if closing it surgically can stop strokes, heart palpatations and migraines with aura.  It can be diagnosed with a sepcial echo cardiogram done with bubbles.  I had the surgery in July, after a bubble echo showed that I had the hole.  My migraines with aura are almost gone now.  Here are a few links to read more.
