Below is an notice from the hostess of the 2009 St. Pete Beach event!!! If
you've never been to a national event before, take advantage of this one! It's
always a GREAT time...not to mention it's in our own back yard (almost)! Keep
your eyes peeled for more info!

Tonya

ST. PETE 2009 IS SCHEDULED

for November 5-8, 2009

More detailed information coming soon. But for now:

SAVE THE DATE!

Hello everyone! I'm Cat, who some of you may have encountered at some
point or other in the last 15 years of national events, HELP meetings,
or local socials. I've inherited the St. Pete national beach event from
my dear friends and esteemed predecessors, who many of you know and
love as much as I do:

Matthew (Furray - creator of the event, which began at Treasure
Island in 2000)
Addy (Adfame - fabulous long-time lead hostess)
Leslie (Gem - most recent, awesome lead hostess) and her most
capable sidekick Linda (NB)

This year, the planners will not be advertising the event at any of the
commercial dating websites and will not be associated with any single
one, so we're relying on a more grassroots approach - listservs, group
message boards, and your personal contacts.

Please tell everyone you know in the H community, and start planning
your trip, because we're gonna have a rollicking fantastic time (as
usual)!!!

Stay tuned to this channel because I'LL BE BACK...!

Hi Andrea, 36, BM. I found out about 5 months ago. Recently stopped seeing
someone who I either received it from or gave it to. I know how you feel, I
would love to email you and at some point meet you. You are not alone, I hope
you contact me.

A friend sent this to me.... I decided to share. Enjoy!

CLAY BALLS
A man was exploring caves by the Sea shore. In one of the caves he found a
canvas bag with a bunch of hardened clay balls. It was like someone had rolled
clay balls and left them out in the sun to bake. They didn't look like much,
but they intrigued the man, so he took the bag out of the cave with him. As he
strolled along the beach, he would throw the clay balls one at a time out into
the ocean as far as he could.

He thought little about it, until he dropped one of the clay balls and it
cracked open on a rock. Inside was a beautiful, precious stone!

Excited, the man started breaking open the remaining clay balls. Each contained
a similar treasure. He found thousands of dollars worth of jewels in the 20 or
so clay balls he had left.

Then it struck him. He had been on the beach a long time. He had thrown maybe
50 or 60 of the clay balls with their hidden treasure into the ocean waves.
Instead of thousands of dollars in treasure, he could have taken home tens of
thousands, but he had just thrown it away!

It's like that with people. We look at someone, maybe even ourselves, and we
see the external clay vessel. It doesn't look like much from the outside. It
isn't always beautiful or sparkling, so we discount it.

We see that person as less important than someone more beautiful or stylish or
well known or wealthy. But we have not taken the time to find the treasure
hidden inside that person.

There is a treasure in each and every one of us. If we take the time to get to
know that person, and if we ask God to show us that person the way He sees them,
then the clay begins to peel away and the brilliant gem begins to shine forth.

May we not come to the end of our lives and find out that we have thrown away a
fortune in friendships because the gems were hidden in bits of clay. May we see
the people in our world as God sees them.

Hi,
I am a SBM 36, recently found I was positive for type 1 (oral) about 4 months
ago. Also, just stopped seeing someone who was also positive. Would like to chat
and get to know sbf's who are also positive. Please reply if interested. I am
not weird, pretty normal just coping with what life has dealt.

So this may be a bit premature but I'm worrying about it so I'll give it a shot.
I met this girl online.. we've been talking on the phone and online for like 3
months now.. sooner or later I'm sure I'm going to meet her... So the question
is this.. when should I tell her about the H? Now? or when we meet? I know
things might not spark when we meet so maybe I should wait.. But at the same
time I don't want to give this girls hopes up. What have you guys done?

Hey man,

My first question is which strain is it? If it is strain 1 then I would suggest
saying something before you meet her. The first kiss it something special,
don't want her thinking the whole date about possibly kissing you then finding
out after. Even if there is no transfer, if she finds out after it might make
her look at the first kiss differently.

Anyone thinking of travelling to Australia this year? Why not join our national
event. . .

Australia's national herpes gathering is an informal get-together held over a 3
day weekend. It's a fun, supportive social function.

Initiated in 2003, the event's aim is to 'celebrate' life with herpes... because
even with herpes life is worth celebrating.

This year's event will be held in the Byron Bay region of northern NSW. The main
function will be held on Saturday evening - a catered dinner (BYO alcohol) and
60's themed party at a private venue.

PRE-PAID BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL

Registration Fee: $50
This goes towards venue hire, promotion and speaker fees.
The registration fee is to be paid ASAP by Paypal to
jeanniemay@... or email for bank direct deposit details.

Additional Costs:
Expenses for catered meals and activities are payable by 31 August 2009.
Accommodation, alcohol and meals (other than the catered dinner) are at your own
expense and arrangement.

Dates: Friday 9 to Sunday 11 October 2009

Location: Byron Bay region, northern NSW, Australia

I've not waited that long.  I took the road where after emails, IMs and a few
phone calls I kinda got a feeling about this girl.  If I felt she was someone
I'd like to pursue then after the first or second date (depending how they went)
I'd tell them.   For some it was a deal breaker but for others it wasn't.  I
think it would not be fair to have that 'someone' start to develope feelings for
you (and likewise you for them), if they are not comfortable with the
situation.  Plus, one might consider the amount of time being invested by both
parties...
you certainly would not want to court someone for months only to find out it is
a deal breaker.

Of course the above is my advise and what worked for me.

Hi all. I am Andrea, 36, BF. Single mom. I am a little confused about all this
and am pretty much at the point where I believe I will live a very single life.
I am not sure I can have this conversation with someone. I am not even sure
how/when...well, mostly the when, this happened. I have also not had an
breakouts, so this whole this is quite strange.

Anyway, enough moaning. I found you guys via a yahoo group search. Seems like it
will be good to have some support. Have a great week all.

Andrea

Heya Aaron!

Glad to see you're still around!! Yeah that's right...move inland just before
hurricane season. Seems a bit 'spicous to me. LOL

Hope all's well in your world! Maybe we'll get to meet up at one of the
socials! I think Dale and Robin are doing a pic-a-nic-a next month. Haven't
heard anything. (Oh, I had to throw in the towel being to social coordinator.
With a baby it was getting VERY difficult for me. Dale and Robin are in charge
now and doing a WONDERFUL job!!)

Tonya,

Great to see you still rallying the troops after all of these years! :)

Shanna and I are still religiously attending the St. Pete event each year,
but haven't been to a local social in quite awhile. We did a wonderful stint
living in Cape Canaveral, but we'll be moving back to O-town soon, and will
look forward to meeting both new people and "veterans" at future events.

For anyone new to the board - or to the community - take a good listen to
Tonya's words. H is nothing but a condition - NOT a sentence. Those of us
who have been in this community for awhile can very much vouch for the fact
that life DOES go on, and you'll meet some truly wonderful people in the
process. :)

Ok, maybe you aren't groupies per se, but hey, it's all good!

Anyway, welcome to our world!! It's a great world! Why you ask? Because it
could be sooooo much worse. You're breathing and above ground. So, in my eyes,
it's a great world!

I'm not sure how long you've been gifted but there is plenty of support both
here and by the support phone line. We're all in this together whether we chose
this or not. So, we make the best of it and life goes on.

I myself, wow, it's hard to believe that on May 28th it will be 19 years. I
once was very single and chose to be that way. I dated but refused to have 'the
talk'. I did once and well, we'll just skip that chapter and call it a mystery.
Anyway, I joined one of the H dating sites. Met a TON of great people and made
even more friends. Yeah, I even kissed a couple frogs along the way. (no, I
didn't get any warts...LOL...in any manner!) However, I did find my husband.
We will be married 4 years next month and, best yet, we have a little 13 month
old girl. So, yeah, life is great. Had I not been gifted, I would have never
found my husband, made all the friends I have and learned a lot of life
experience lessons. And that's me in a pecan shell.

So....again....welcome! If you need anything, just shout! Someone's bound to
answer you! Also, from time to time the Orlando Social group will post
information about a local event. Please feel free to join us!! That I am aware
of no one in the group bites! (just kidding) And best yet, no one wears
t-shirts advertising our group!! It's discreet and I have to admit, a lot of
fun! So, keep checking back here for anything coming up. If I heard correctly,
there is a picnic coming up sometime in April. :o)

Glad you found us!!
