I totally understand where you are coming from.  When I went to my
first meeting, I was scared to death.  Thankfully though, I made a
friend through this site and he went with me.  I was still scared,
but not as much.  That was March 2001.  Seems like ages ago!

No, there are no signs saying "This way to the Herpes Support
Group".  In fact the only sign is right off the elevator and it
says "Dining Room B" with an arrow.  Then there's another one on the
door saying "Dining Room B".  That's it.

As far as you walking in and seeing someone you know...I won't say
the possibility isn't there, but hey, look at it this way.  If they
are there too, what are they going to do....go and tell a bunch of
people they saw you at a herpes support group meeting?  Think about
it.  They are in the same boat you are in, just wearing a different
life jacket, that's all.

I definitely recommend the group meetings.  Like in conferences and
seminars you may attend for work, some people get more out of them
than others.  That's just the way it is.  It gives you information to
think about.  It lets you know that you are truly not alone in this.
Look at it this way...there's 200+ people on this website alone...and
this is definitely not a big website!

I don't know if any of this made you feel any better.  Hopefully you
will think about everything though.  The next meeting is on January
10th, 2006.  (I'll be updating the calendar on the help group website
this week with all the new dates.)  The times and place have not
changed.

And by all means, if you have any questions, shout them out!  I'm
sure someone on here will give you an answer...if not show some
support!  :o)

Hey Lady,

   I'm sorry to hear that things are going so crazy there!  Things are actually
pretty slow here in the group outings and events....  On a fun side note, I am
moving into a house in the next couple of weeks and I am so excited, and it is
so fun learning all the new things that go along with redoing an OLD house!  I
have a huge backyard for a dog, I hope and tons of fun parties....  My stepmom
thinks I need to build a bar on the roof, and a firepit for parties, oh
boy....She doesn't know me very well, if she thinks I need those 2 things for
fun under or above my roof, giggle, giggle...

   Happy holidays!  What are you doing?  I'm either staying here fixing a house
and having some holiday cheer or heading to NC to visit my newly married bro....

   uuumm...some times the written word just doesn't come out right and in that
case, maybe it's easier and safer to hit the backspace button.  I just remember
when I first found out about having H, I got so sick and tired of hearing people
say it would get easier and all that stuff.  I guess I didn't want to be one of
those people to say that and like I said, I should have probably just stuck to
talking about the neat spelling of your name.  I am sorry if I said anything
wrong.

What the heck does this mean, "...and then I thought of a few other things
and that didn't seem right either...."?  The spelling of my name is German

   After the holidays, I will help you set something up, be it here in
Jacksonville or Orlando, but I'm talking about late January or early Feb time
frame.  I am one busy chick these days, I'm moving into a house soon....ooooh
wait, maybe we could have a moving event, giggle, giggle or better yet a
painting event... OK, so I slipped, back to the subject....I am busy, so if you
want to wait to do something I will help, but it must be later.

Alan there are a lot of groups that are very active in the southwest / east of
FL and then south FL as well.  Jacksonville is trying and we do get together at
least once a month and hopefully more in the new year, so look out for those
posts!

I'm going camping.  On an island.  Need to get away for a few days.
Would like some friends along.  Clams, shrimp, fish.  All fresh.
MMMmmm.  Mosquitos gone.  Hurricanes gone.  Not too hot in the day
or too cool at night.  Best time of the year in Florida.

If any of you don't have plans with relatives, this could be the
alternative Thanksgiving of your dreams.  I know several high and
dry islands where camping is allowed.  Some actually have picnic
tables.

Just a short boat ride from shore.  Not a three hour tour.

Work on my boat is almost finished and those who have seen it before
wouldn't even recognize it today.

Personally, I'm going for five nights, starting the 23rd.  There is
an internet connection right across the river at a small library and
cell phones do work on the island.  Kind of like getting away
without getting too far away.  I have a small, very quiet generator
to run some lights, music, and cell phone chargers.

If you like fishing or clamming or just getting away for a while,
this is the place.

Come down for a day, a night, or for the whole weekend.
