I have a friend that was just diagnosed with 'H'. I want to provide some
resources, but I'm not sure what to tell her as far as getting on this email
group.

I don't remember how I got here. I think I talked to someone on the phone and
they took my info. I don't think that's the way most of you got here.

How should I advise her?

Thanks!

Laila,

I totally agree with you that sex isn't everything and I guess when I said
"would you go back to your wild days."  I more meant would you be "less" careful
with reading a person.  Maybe I was more speaking about my experiences.  I know
before I had herpes, I didn't think about sexual diseases, because those things
only happened to the careless, not the true at heart type of people.   Trust me,
I know that was a naive way to think period.

But after getting herpes, I thought more about the person and not their looks or
what "could" be.  The people I've slept w/ since having herpes, I saw a
connection (not herpes) as a person and what I liked about them, their lives,
the way the made me laugh, how they acted with my friends, etc....

I was never "wild" to begin with. If there is a cure I would not change my
behavior. I will not be sexually active until I am married. If I had done that
in the begining I would be a member of this club. Sex isn't everything.

I'm just curious knowing that there "might" be a cure, would that make you go
back to you wild ways??  Or would you feel you didn't have to maybe have the
talk?  I know I didn't always tell someone i was kissing I had a "cold" because
who cares, it goes away, and damn those lips were worth every moment....

Come on someone answer you all know you've thought about it....
