When I first started trading the stock market, there
was not the wealth of information available online
like there is today. I read a lot of books and learned
the terms and thought I knew everything necessary to
make my fortune trading the market. I found a discount
broker and started plugging away, and immediately lost
my shirt.

Even though I had read these same tips in numerous
places, I really didnt understand the importance of
them until I had learned them the hard way. As they
say, experience is the best teacher, if you survive

Many of you have heard of the critical need for medical people in Honduras for
the planned upcoming medical mission.  IHS (International Health Services) is
sending many medical teams in Feb and they will go to remote places where the
only medical care they will get is from our teams.

   I have heard from several inquirers with several questions.  Great!  The
interest is good and we have one eye care professional signed up so far. 
Several IHS veteran support people are planning to go, too.  However… with
several sites where we will need one or two eye examiners at each, we still have
an urgent need for several more.  With about 100 folks needed in all, we
certainly are seeking many medical, dental, and eye care professionals along
with support and helper people, too.  Each site has varying medical needs so
most will qualify to help somewhere. We are hoping to get a list of committed
names for all the docs, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, translators, and other
medical folks by 1 October so IHS can start buying all the supplies (eye
glasses, pharmacy, food, medical/dental supplies, plus radio and engineering
gear).  They will send all this in a container shipment about the end of
December.  They will also select sites based on the skills of those signed up
  so each applicant will know where they will go by the end of November.

             August 2007-Special Commentary

             "While the media has taken to calling the recent volatility 'the
subprime crisis,' in essence these lower quality mortgages were simply the
bottom rung of the fallout. Rising defaults in subprime simply exposed the
entities that collateralize and invest in pools both of these lower rated
mortgages and of higher yielding credits. Banks failed to syndicate loans made
to finance leveraged corporate buy-outs," said Dr. Webman.

             He named other entities which helped precipitate the fallout, saying
that more than one was to blame for the negative directions of equity markets.

             "Is this a crisis?" he asked.

             Dr. Webman believes that the problem has been cauterized for the
near term due to the Fed's infusion of cash and reduction in the Discount rate
which is one of four rates that control the banking system.

             Most investors are familiar with the Federal Funds rate which the
Fed cuts or increases often, however says Dr Webman,. "by not lowering the
better-known Federal Funds rate, the usual instrument of monetary policy, the
Fed was able to stick to its modestly favorable view of the economy and (we
hope) break up the financial logjam."
