First off, I apologize if this message is in the incorrect place; I
see that the discussion is more technology oriented but that it is for
optometrists so I thought that perhaps this would have some place.
Anyways, I have been in search of a pair of discontinued Emporio
Aramani frames for about 2 years now - Emporio Armani 1088; the reason
that it is so important to have this particular pair is that they are
discontinued (as Armani seems to do with their frames every other
month) and all the styles I have seen for the past two years are
nothing like these. To put it simply, they are modern and stylish
enough (semi-rimless), but have lenses with a large range of vision -
in particular, a long vertical range of vision. Along with that, they
are made of some type of metal that contains no nickel (which I am
allergic to). Finally, the color is a matte gold finish that I rarely
see in brand-new glasses these days - most everything seems to be dark
metal or if gold contains nickel (allergic). The problem with an
entirely new frame is that all the styles in stores (large chain
stores & small opticians) that are semi-rimless are extremely small,
so small that I cannot see well enough out of them (I have tried and
the lenses are just too small). In turn, the only frames with lenses
with a range of vision anywhere near these Armani frames I am after
are huge style frames that are in style with senior citizens. My RX
is too strong for a 100% rimless lense. I have asked around at the
store where I purchased them, they were of little to no help, I have
asked around at other stores and most people roll their eyes at me
when I complain about the style of men's frames these days.
If this frame cannot be found (I find it hard to believe that there is
not a pair out there) is there any way that I could have someone
create a similar pair? If so, who would I get in touch with about
this, a jeweler/metalsmith?
