This support group is for parents who have teens and young adults with
OCD that are in middle school, high school and college. This particular
group of children have very specific needs that are generally different
from younger children and older adult children with OCD.
As their parents, we must deal with puberty, sexuality, social
interactions, medication and therapy resistance, driving,
constant testing of the rules, school issues including 504 Plans
and IEPs, transitions through different school levels - from
elementary through to college, and the ultimate challenge of
transition to adulthood and independence.
If you are interested in being a member of this group, please check "Join
this group" at the top right portion of the screen. You will be sent a
membership form, which will be posted in our files after acceptance, and
a confidentiality agreement; both of which must be completed prior to
acceptance of membership.
This is a private, unlisted support group. Members will be recruited
through the OC Foundation, other on-line support groups for parents and
people with OCD, and through personal recommendation of the group
members. This is done in an effort to protect the privacy of the members
and their children.
Our hopes are that this will be an active group, geared to helping each
other to solve day to day problems and providing the emotional support
that we all need to help our children grow into productive, young
adults. We expect all members to participate monthly, with no lurkers.
