Welcome, Mindy.  I am Misty, mom to Nicole (11) and Leah (9), adopted at 8 (N) and 6 (L).  They are bio sisters.  We adopted them through foster care.  We chose foster care because we did not have the money to pay for an expensive adoption and I wouldn't have it any other way.  I love my girls and they are the best thing that has happened to me (next to my wonderful DH).  Feel free to ask me any questions, if foster care adoption is something you are interested in.

My husband and I adopted our first child through Maine's fostercare system but had her placed with us at 2 days of age.  Our second child, also a girl, is now 7 mos old and we are in the adoption phase of things.  She came at 6 wks of age.  Both alcohol and drug addicted parents.
 
I don't know much about international adoption as we did not look into it beyond the cost factor.
 
I would highly recommend getting a subscription to Adoptive Families magazine as it covers it all and is perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Everyone,

My name is Mindy Johnson. I am a plus size woman looking for information and support about the adoption process. My husband and I have one beautiful son, who we consider a miracle baby. The doctors told us that it would be virtually impossible for us to conceive, on both of our parts, but four years ago we found ourselves pregnant. We have been trying to conceive again for the past couple of years with no success. We have decided that adoption would be a good idea at this point, and we are in the information collecting phase of this process. I would love to be a part of this group to share my experiences, and hopefully listen to the advice of others going through the same thing.

Hi everyone,

My name is Sheri, I'm 35 and my DH Mike is 36.  We've been married since 2003 and have one son, Jared, born in 2001.  After 8 years of infertility we conceived after our first round of Clomid and 9 months later, Jared arrived happy and healthy at 6lbs. 9oz.
While we would love to have a second biological child, due to some medications I'm currently on (and no short term vision of getting off of them) and our age we've decided to pursue adoption.  We're currently filling out the application and getting or necessary criminal and child abuse registry checks done.  We've decided to pursue adoption through our Provincial department rather than a private agency due to costs.  This type of adoption is pretty much free and I've been told that we, luckily, live in the area of Nova Scotia where the most number of newborns are placed.
We are seeking a newborn (0-2 yrs) of any race, nationality or religious background.
I look forward to getting to know all of you and hopefully sharing our adoption success story with you all.

The Blurb for OTRADING:
The OPSS-OMOM Trading Post is a list for members of OPSS-L, OMOM, and OMOM-Kids
to use as a place to swap, sell, or give away items. The idea is to help each
other out by giving an avenue for list members to sell items they no longer need
and give others an opportunity to save money on purchases.

Examples of items would include maternity clothing, carriers, baby items, toys,
baby and children's clothing, educational materials. Members are also welcome to
post good coupons that may be of interest to members such as clothing for
babies, children, and BBWs, restaurants, toy stores, etc.
