I think it really depends on your DHHR. My hubby & I both work full time
jobs & it didn't really matter to our DHHR. We're in WV btw. I would talk
to my worker & see what they say.
I would love to be a sahm, but we need both incomes, especially with
adding 2 kids to our house. Drew drops them off at 5 a.m. at his mom's
house & they go back to sleep until 7:30 & then she gets them dressed & she
drops them off at school on her way to work at 8:20. Drew gets off work at
3:30 p.m., so his mom's husband picks the kids from school at 3:20 & they
stay with him until Drew get's home at 4:00. My job lets me telework from
home on Mondays & Fridays & whenever else that I need to. In the summer
they go to summer camp from 8:30-4:00 through our local parks & rec & his
mom drops them off there & Drew picks them up. So our schedule works out
great & the kids adjusted to it very well. Like you really wanted to know
all that, but my point is that you don't have to be a sahm to be a good
parent & provide a stable environment. Like I said, talk to your worker &
see what they say.

I know one thing is that you may really want to be home. For one big
reason they prefer, at least here in Maine, to place 0-3 in homes with a
mom at home as these kids truly need that stability. If you can that may
make it sooner rather than later for a placement in that age bracket.

We are just finishing up our adoption portion of the process. We just
have the first homestudy left. Then we start the foster portion of
it. We are going thru Orange County in California. We have decided on
a girl or a boy ages 0-3. We are also thinking of going for a sibling
set. We decided we did not want to wait forever on getting a child.
They told us that 0-2 some times is a long wait. It has taken us 6
months to get to this point. Which is not that long at all but it
seems like forever. I think we are starting to get nervous now about
what are we going to do when we get it. Am I going to stay home and
have half our income go away but be able to spend so much time with
our child. Or are we going to do childcare during the day while I am
at work. I guess we are jumping the gun on that stuff since we dont
even know what we might get.
