Re: [NorthTexasMassage] Locating Continuing Education Classes

Tracy,  I am an approved CE provider and would welcome a place prospective students could look for good classes; I would even be willing to pay for a listing.  To answer your questions:
1. My wife and I spend hours addressing mail outs from the list provided by the state on their website.  We send approx. 200 a week to zips 75 & 76 plus post cards toi areas like 77 & 79 zips.  I am listed with Massage Today also.
2. No. Their could be a lot more in each class; this week however, I am have 3 classes with a total number of students of 17. I do know a lot of people DO NOT take classes but say they do.
3. Again, yes I would welcome a listing service.  I pay $75.00 a year for my listings in Massage Today; very reasonable for both printed and online listing.
4. I offer several classes most people DO NOT offer in fact I have 10 signed up for this next Sunday for a breast class; today a pelvis class & Saturday a Spa Treatments class.
Yes, I would love to be more diverse. I have talk with a few other providers that sound really good.
For your information, I was audited for my classes back in May and was proud to been found to be in "full compliance" with my classes.  I welcomed them checking me out and hope they will continue.
My website is: www.anewyoucontinuingeducation.com    Classes & DVDs.
Thanks for hearing my side, Don Williams

it incredibly frustrating trying to locate classes or workshops
beyond the few local schools and providers I already know about.

In an effort to alleviate this frustration, I purchased a domain name
and set up a very simple website dedicated to bringing CE providers
and participants together. My intention is to list the classes in a
calendar, as well as list providers, class descriptions, advanced
classes, and a wish list. The wish list would be a tool continuing
education providers could utilize to develop new classes based on
participants' interests.

Before I jump off into this full force, I thought I would approach
those of you here for your thoughts and perspectives on this
project. I'd love to know if I am reinventing the wheel and have
just overlooked this list somewhere else, or if it's a tool we could
all benefit from.

I've listed some initial questions here. Please feel free to add
additional thoughts and/or contact me directly. I am very interested
in ALL viewpoints.

Thanks in advance!
I appreciate your time and opinions.

Tracy

For those of you who are Continuing Education Providers:

How do you market?
Do you find you have the number of participants in your classes you
want?
Would you be interested in a regional or statewide listing that would
allow you to list all your classes for a nominal fee? If so, what
would you consider nominal?
Would you be interested in a list of topics continuing education
seekers are interested in?
Would you be interested in working with other providers to offer
multi-class events?

For those of you who are required to take continuing education hours:

Where do you look to find your next class or workshop?
Do you find it easy to locate all the classes you'd like to take?
Are there classes or workshops you'd like to see presented that you
haven't found yet?
What do you look for in a class?

Thanks to all who responded to my inquiry/project ideas about a centralized CE listing and about the prospect of joining forces with other continuing education...
