Rotator Cuff Tears with

Rick Robinette  Oct 24

Fri 9a-4p

6 hours

$99

R Robinette Instructor At some point during their active years, most people will experience some amount of rotator cuff tearing in one of their shoulder joint regions. When it happens, life can become miserable due to the pain, weakness, and limited movement they feel in that shoulder area. With detailed massage therapy, you can ease their soft tissue discomfort and help regain any lost range of motion. This workshop will give you the deep tissue massage techniques you need – trigger point release and myofascial therapy – to provide both general and specific relief. You will also learn the soft tissue causes of rotator cuff tears.

Fibromyalgia

with Carol Young  Oct 25

Sa 9a-4p

6 hours

$99

Using a combination of lecture, anatomical illustrations, handouts and technique demonstration in a classroom setting, the instructor will present a class that is 3 hours lecture and 3 hours practical application. Causes and conditions will be discussed with great attention paid to the use of light and moderate pressure as studies have shown that too aggressive an approach can exacerbate fibromyalgia symptoms. The teacher will also discuss relaxation therapy, exercise coaching and goal setting for the client.  As a result, students will have a comprehensive understanding of the physiological components of fibromyalgia; knowledge of current allopathic and alternative treatment approaches; and, low force or non- force massage techniques complimentary to Swedish massage that have been proven beneficial to clients with fibromyalgia.
