As an introduction to the theories and mechanisms of disease, this course focuses on the pathological conditions most likely to be encountered in a massage therapy practice. Special attention will be given to precautions, contraindications and indications for massage sessions when working with massage clients exhibiting specific conditions. When and how it is appropriate to refer clients to other health care practitioners will be included

Hot Stones Feb 22 Fr 9a-4p 6 hrs $99 Come learn how to perform a full-body hot stone massage routine, as well as how to care for and maintain your stones. The heat from the stones `melts' the tension out of muscles. It is very relaxing, and a treatment your clients will love. Aromatherapy Feb 24 Su 9a-3p 6 hrs $99 Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of essential oils. An essential oil is an aromatic essence, distilled from a single botanical source. True essential oils have nothing added to them, and nothing taken away. Essential oils can have many different effects on the body, mind and spirit. They can be sedative or stimulating, some have an analgesic and antispasmodic effect, most are antibacterial. Essential oils can aid in skin care and wound healing. There are many different ways of using essential oils therapeutically - in baths, inhalations, compresses, creams or lotions, but perhaps one of the most pleasant, relaxing and therapeutic ways, is through aromatherapy massage Students are introduced to basic techniques in how to incorporate aromatherapy into their Swedish massage. |
