Kukui nut oil to be tested in psoriasis study

Researchers at the University of Hawai'i are looking for 30
people with mildly itchy skin to test a new theory that kukui nut oil
may reduce the symptoms of psoriasis, a skin disease that
afflicts up to 9 million Americans.

"There have been anecdotal reports from psoriasis patients
visiting Hawai'i who purchased kukui nut oil here and claim it
helped reduce the severity of their lesions," said Amy Brown,
assistant professor of nutrition and principal investigator.
The study is a cooperative effort of the department of human
nutrition, food and animal sciences, and the John A. Burns
School of Medicine.

Brown received a $39,500 grant from the Hawai'i Community
Foundation to pursue the clinical trial and is recruiting adults
between the ages of 18 and 64 who have mild psoriasis
covering about 15 percent of their bodies. Interested people may
e-mail Brown at amybrown@... or call 956-3846.
Patients involved will receive free care for the 12-week study that
includes seven physician visits, free oil and up to $150 for their
time, said Brown. Dermatologist Dr. Douglas W. Johnson, his
nurse practitioner Nicole Semaskvich and associate professor
David Lally in the physiology department are co-principal
investigators.

Patients are asked to get approval from their personal
physicians to stop other medications during the trial, Brown said.
The group will be divided in two, with half using kukui oil on
lesions over their body and the other half using a placebo oil.
They will be evaluated every two weeks using the Psoriasis Area
and Sensitivity Index, the Global Severity Psoriasis Scale and
photographs. Patients also will monitor their lesions daily.
"Kukui nut oil has a high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids
and very unique ammonia properties, so much so that Mainland
cosmetic companies purchase it for their fine cosmetic lines,"
said Brown. "Because of the emollient properties of kukui nut oil,
if you put it into a cream, it rolls over your skin like silk."

The Amazing Noni Plant

Noni fruits and leaves have been known and used for centuries
by Polynesians. The scientific name of the noni plant is Morinda
Citrifolia. Noni trees grow to about 25-30 feet high and have a
long life span

manufacturer of noni juice in Tahiti and he quotes this from official
French Polynesian Government documents:

That's right, Chris. I'd forgotten about Michel. So much for Morinda's
claim that they had an exclusive deal with the French Polynesian government.

Michel is also the fellow who showed me how Morinda's Tahitian Noni juice
in actuality contains only 19% noni. I can share the formula for those that
don't know about it.

I heard that a new company in Utah called Xango (xango.net)  is
being run by former Morinda employees.  They are selling a new
exotic fruit drink.  Their marketing plan is remarkably similiar to
Morinda's.  Does anyone have any more details about this?

Noni juice has been sold commercially in Tahiti since 1989 by a
company run by Michel Guillemet.  He sold it in 12.7 oz whiskey
bottles.

If you took any capsules and they "didn't work," you didn't take our product.

And there were *at least* THREE companies selling Noni prior to Morinda
coming on the scene: Hawaiian Noni, Maui Noni and Hawaiian Herbal Blessings.

Get your facts straight before you post crap like this.

I took the capsules and they don't work.

The juice is the only thing that works.  Don't let
them tell you any BS about 1992.  There was nothing in
the market before 1996.  Period.  All the copycats
like Hawaian Noni came afterwards.  All those people
selling imitations out there are nothing more than
frustatrated ex-Morinda distributors.

product on the market (since 1992) has only ever been $19.95 for a 30 day
supply.

Morinda people will try to tell you nonsense like you have to only take
noni as a juice which is ridiculous. Especially since their stuff is
diluted with sweet fruit juices and ours is 100% pure noni fruit dried at
no higher than body temperatures and encapsulated in veggie caps. Morinda
people will also try to tell you that noni from Tahiti is somehow better
than noni from Hawaii. Of course, *all* of Ralph Heinicke's research was
done on Hawaiian noni fruit.

Hello.  My girlfriend , and her daughter, both have Marfan's.
Grandmother

had it and so does mother and uncle.  Marfan's was something I had
never

heard of  before.  Now, the reason I am posting is.. thus..

There is a polynesian healing plant known as Noni. Tahitian noni
that is.

My friend  had me drink it when I had a broken leg, and i found it
really

helped my leg as well as  my chemical depression I  get disability
for.

My question is, have any  of you  taken / tested / or tried Tahitian
Noni

Juice?  I am  considering buying it for my girlfriend, as long as
her

doctors are  okay with this, since  she does take alot of different

medications, the interaction of anything always needs to be taken
into

consideration!

Noni Juice works on the cellular level, and I am  very hopeful that
it can

be somewhat helpful for Marfan's!  I know I have not introduced this
to her

or  anything, so right now it is just a hunch, and a wish.

I have heard alot of great stories concerning Tahitian Noni Juice.
