(my best friend is another solid, recommendable film from the great,
and arguably legendary Daniel Auteuil. i'd say that Auteuil and
Depardieu are the two greatest active lions in world cinema, far
outclassing in stature any current American actor (assuming this
Yankee actor isn't working for the CIA, like DeNiro, Woods, Sheen,
DeCaprio and so many others are.)

My Best Friend has a solid cast overall. Dany Boon and impossibly
pretty Julie Gayet certainly keep the story moving. My only peeves
with My Best Friend are the direction and the introduction of a game
show finish. the writing, however, is superb. for example, the role
reversals seen in the scenes after the game show conclude are well
worth waiting for.

If there is a cinematic sub-genre concerning the easily obtained but
impossible to retain thing the world calls 'friendship', My Best
Friend belongs near the top. Add 'Harvey', starring Jimmy Stewart,
and you can learn a lot about the human psyche.
