Hello all, My name is Julianne. I had surgery 6/28/07. I am a retired teacher I am
61 and a grandma.. I went from a dress size 26 to a size 18. I lost 130 lbs! Prior to surgery I weighed 312. I can eat anything. I do the best when I stay away from bread
and pasta. I do not have dumping syndrome but I feel a little punk if I eat sweets, consequently, I have gotten to where I don't care for them. I can eat fruit and eat a
small amount of fruit twice a day.
I had diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. Now they are all perfect.
My internist says I am a controlled diabetic. Whatever. I'm happy.
I have to watch what I eat and the amounts, but it is so much easier now.
Meetings? I don't know. I sure would like to find out.

Michelle, You are doing fantastic. I have not lost nearly as much as you. What is your secret? My problem is I can eat any thing I want to with out any problems. You are lucky.

It has been quiet. I have been a lurker rather than a poster, but maybe I can help kick-start some conversation.
On April 28th I celebrated my 1 year anniversary. I was 41 and went in for gastric-bypass surgery at 227 lbs, and now I have been stable at 105 for about 2 months. At 5'1" it is quite a change. I have a little loose skin on the arms and legs, that I expect muscle development to eradicate. The 3 Bs (bust, belly, and butt) may need some surgical intervention, but purely for vanity, not for health.
My post-surgical experience went smoothly, and apart from a few cases where I inadvertently ate something with sugar (1000 Island Dressing--who knew), haven't had any real problems with dumping.
The surgery was the best thing I have ever done. Finding info in the web about what to expect or when I had a question proved oddly difficult--so much in anecdotal!
