My name is Monie and I am 33 years old and had my surgery in August of
2006. I am now 24 weeks pregnant and finally getting to enjoy being
pregnant. I spent most of the 1st half with serious "morning
sickness", but the baby is doing well. I have really had to increase
some of my supplements. I have heard that most post bypass patients
have had healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. But the one thing I
have not heard much about is their weight gain and breast-feeding. I
have only gained 10 pounds up to this point and have continued to
workout. I have an 11 year old from a previous relationship and was
able to breast-feed for 9 months with a great milk supply. I am
hoping to repeat that success. I am also hoping to get back to my
pre-pregnancy weight. I weighed 155lbs when I found out I was
pregnant. I weighed 294 lbs the day of my surgery back in 2006. I am
due in June. If anyone else has had a baby after the surgery, please
let me know how it all turned out. We are excited about the little boy
we are adding to our family. Dr. Reiss is my doctor and she was
supportive in knowing that we wanted to have a baby. So we just want
to say Thanks to her and her staff that have supported us though all
this!! We will see you all once the baby gets here.
