I've heard of cases where insurance has paid for some of the skin removal surgery.  I've not had it done yet, and the best info would be from someone who has.  From what I know, document, document, document.  Every rash you get in/under your skin folds, how you took care of it, how long it took to clear up, if you had to see the doctor, whether you needed an RX to clear it up or if something OTC worked.  Take notes on the difficulties of fitting the extra skin into clothing, the cost of restriction garments to try to prevent rashes, headaches/backaches you get from the pull of the extra skin.  Be sure your PCP has record of everything.
