Introduction
I am 45 years old and it has only been in my last 10 years that I have
become increasingly interested in all natural health. Traditional
medicine makes less and less sense to me, and it is very clear to me
that there needs to me more alternative choices.
I want to get my BS in Natural Health, and become an ND with my focus on
nutrition. Once I have completed that, I am going to learn a technique
called NIS which stands for "Neurological Integration System".
For almost 20 years, my sister has been diagnosed with bi-polar and
schizo-effective disorders. Her case has been severe and she has spent
the better part of those years, doped up on toxic medications that have
done nothing for her delusions, barely stabalized her and have left her
with a life of mediocrity and sadness. I was recently introduced to a
Chiropractic Doctor who practices NIS, and took my sister to him. NIS
is a method of testing muscles that tell him the brain's areas of
dysfunction, and tells him the underlying neurophysiological reasons for
the symptoms, so without medication, or surgeries he can easily correct
the problem. In three weeks, my sister is a completely different person
and we already had her medication reduced. I'm confident within the
next few months we can decrease it even further with the hope of getting
her off of it altogether. I am watching my old sister emerge almost at
warp speed. There are only a very small handful of doctors here in the
US that practice this method, and I am determined to become one of them.
I believe that treating people with illnesses like my sister, combined
with healthy nutrition and diet, is the perfect alternative natural
solution they need.
I have been asked to state my purpose for joining this group. I have
been looking at Clayton College as well as Westbrook University, and
University of Natural Medicine and I am looking for feedback from
current students, hoping to get some thoughts on your
satisfaction/dissatisfaction with your level of education from the
School. I understand that Clayton has applied for accreditation, and
they are not at liberty to discuss it, but research says that the
process could take years and I don't know if the schools lack of
accreditation will hurt me after graduation. I would appreciate your
honest feedback and any information you can give me to assist me in my
decision. I understand that Westbrook has affiliations but I've read
that they are "flimsy", and I believe that UNM has also applied for
accreditation. Maybe someone out there has different point of view that
I had not considered. I would appreciate any help you can give.
Either way, it has been a pleasure reading some of your introductions, I
wish you all the best of luck in your endeavors, and I appreciate the
opportunity to share my story here.
Wishing you all best
