Artisan perfumers have a hands-on approach to fragrance creation, and this form of niche perfumery is centuries old, untouched by corporate demands, deadlines or conformity. A natural perfume is made of natural aromatics such as essential oils, absolutes, waxes, CO2 extracts, resins, concretes, oleoresins, herbs, tinctures, and infused oils. Natural perfume is also sometimes called botanical perfumery, or organic natural perfume, depending on the materials used.

Many of us have started to infuse and tincture our own materials, using aromatics like rare flowers, beeswax, fragrant leaves, saffron, sugar and whatever strikes our fancy.
