Sorry. I once fell off the organ bench during a church service. When the
musician falls unto pedals, it makes a really big mash of very low,
thunder-like
noise. Unfortunately, this organ is located at the front of the church,
the organist in full
side view of thecongregation. Toward the front were rows of teenagers.
I expected them to
find it funny, but they were very worried. On subsequent Sundays, I noticed
they'd give me thumbs up, encouraging me on. It was their reaction that
kept
me on the organ bench, come cataplexy or high water.
Just explain to people that you have narcolepsy, smile (ruefully) about it
yourself, express your embarrassment and frustration, and give it your best.
It's amazing how supportive you'll find people to be. After all, you're
not falling from
drunkenness, and you did not deliberately inherit that gene. You're
probably the person
you need to be. And your spunk will be a good model to people with even
worse problems.
