Hey all!! Can't believe it never occurred to me to look here for
support and finding others like myself. I am a full blown, full
symptom and still one of the highest level rated narcoleptics out
there. I was diagnosed 11 years ago when I watched my whole life,
college, family and everything else go to hell. It took thousands of
dollars, dangerous medications (ie. being a test subject for GHB)
and being severly berated and shunned by family, friends, loved
ones, neurologists and more before my symptoms were diagnosed.

Like so many others, I spend every day hiding and lying about the
hypnogogic hallucinations. Mine are so severe these days that I have
to put myself under lock and key in my own home.

To make matters better, I am a single father of a beautiful 6 year
old little boy (single by doom of my narcolepsy, not be
choice...*cry*), I recently sawed my hand in half and had to have it
rebuilt (a result of the narcolepsy.. but don't tell anyone, I
can't... LOL), lost my sixth car in a row (again, narcolepsy, but
can't tell anyone about that either) and am down to borrowing my
little brother's car (and believe you me.. he is nervous as hell!!),
am fighting to keep three of my teeth in the back of my jaw right
now since the anfetamines coupled with acid reflux have taken their
toll on me and to make it worse, the state of Oregon has declared
war on anfetamine use, even legal use, and now my doctors may switch
on me again in less than a month leaving me vulnerable to being
without medication.. and won't that be a hoot when I try to get a
job!!!!!!

Here's a little page I drew up a while ago trying to help inform the
world about narcolepsy: http://home.bendcable.com/fss/narcolepsy

Anyway! That's me in a nutshell. Kind of a nut!!! I know three
other narcoleptics right now: All have the benefit of being in a
relationship, one is a veteran and talks about the hallucinations,
but noone listens cause he is a war vet, one won't talk about her
disease and the third goes to Mexico to buy modafinil cheap since it
works for him... lucky him... but noone else talks about it or cares.
The local sleep disorders clinic has banned me from help.. that's a
whole other story though... *sigh again*
