Re: [Narcolepsy-Chat] lost career and memory

Shelley, is Narcolepsy your ONLY downfall?  What does your doctor say?  I know for me what helped was when I went in for an interview down in AL, USA the interviewer mentioned a drug test and I made the mistake of mentioning to her the drugs that I was on - just the name of it nothing else, so that they would know to overlook it on the screening - the interviewer looked at me and stated "you have Narcolepsy", I answered yes.  she then made 3 phone calls and then told me that she couldn't hire me for safety reasons.  I had her put it in writing, which she did.  I turned that in when I applied for SSDI - apparently it helped because I have been receiving SSDI for over a year now.  Good luck to ya, and I hope that you don't kill yourself or anyone else while driving - you do know that if you are on any drugs to check the bottle of your script - most of them say something to the effect of not operating heavy machinery - isn't that a car?  Talk with your doctor.  Mine was helpful in getting the paperwork done for SSDI application.
Take care,
Jean

employment was terminated because i could work as fast as other because of
being tired.  social security told me if i killed myself or someone else
while driving i might beable to get disability support.  which is gret for
the other family.  now i work tues morning 45 min drive for a normal person
takes me 1.5 hrs to allow for naps.  am lucky to have found work 1 black
from home 1 hr each night during christmas and easter and 3 night when not
busy.  Only was to get social security is go to school full time doing any
course (not part it doesn't work) at least you get money going into the bank
and you get educated at the same time.  It doesn't matter too much when you
fall asleep in class they don't seem to care too much, this is tafe only not
university.
