I failed to mention something important when I wrote my initial email to you all: I take several prescribed medications for various reasons, one of which is Geodon--a common side effect of which is "feeling very tired and sleepy." I spoke with my doctor on Tuesday, and he told me to stop my morning dose of Geodon and just take the evening dose to see if that helps; since I stopped the morning dose, I have not fallen asleep during the day at all, nor felt anywhere *near* as sleepy as I usually do. Time will be the ultimate test, though.
I have no alternate exlpanation for the hypnogogic hallucinations and the immediacy of REM sleep. So if it is indeed the Geodon that is making me fall asleep during the day, what are some other causes for these two problems?
Also, I mentioned cataplexy in my last email. Did my account sound like an accurate or somewhat-accurate account of cataplexy, or was it totally off-base? And could you give me some of your own accounts of times you have experienced cataplexy?
Thanks,
Jennifer e.h.
