Hello all again
Thank you to those who replied, thank you so much!!
I should have mentioned that I live in Britain in a country called
the Isle of Man. It's seperate from United Kingdom law so I have no
idea what the law is here and I would be incredibly surprised if N
was considered a disability. I have a feeling it isn't.
The I.O.M. is part of Britain but not part of the U.K. I'm very
confused on the law of it. As far as I know they do not have to
provide me with what I need to get through the day :-(
Sorry the end of my last message was a bit frantic - a sleep attack
was coming on and it ended up a bit manic I think.
I have already been considering letting them fire me because I'm not
going to quit. I would be entitled to nothing whatsoever if I quit -
that much I already know.
I started hallucinating at work pretty bad and have had another
couple of days off and I know it's going to be frightening dealing
with angry management over my job status. My collegues have been
treating me like an idiot for ages - saying my work is good BUT...
I'm so confused and feel like ending it all to be honest - I know
that's depression talking, but I don't know what else to do. I
think I'm just going to lose my home and my life as it is - I can't
let my husband go through life with me like this - it's not right.
I'm not on Provigil now. I've got another appointment coming soon.
They lost my notes at the hospital for a while too. My GP doesn't
know what narcolepsy is either.
I haven't gone for sleep tests because there aren't any labs in the
IOM, I would have to go to England to do those. I intend to demand
I get them to prove one way or the other whether or not it's
narcolepsy.
My doctor quizzed me about it being on tv recently too, I hadn't
seen the programme he mentioned but I'm worried this is going to be
a 'popular diagnosis' for doctors soon for any sleep problem going.
I have to say - I read the statistics on some webpages with
narcolepsy and was surprised to say the least!! I honestly
don't believe that 1 in every 1000 people could have this. Maybe
it's denial but I really don't see how they can guess this kind of
high number - if they're wrong then none of us will have the right
to disability no matter how hard it is to work!!
I think if someone is going to be medicated for Narcolepsy then no
doctor has the right to mess around giving strong medication to
someone who has not got scans and sleep test records ON PAPER first!!
Does anyone else agree that this could be very damaging to people
with narcolepsy?? (Both the new statistics and giving medication
without proper test results?)
