I saw the interview and Sean's comments to him were over the top indeed as in most similar situations.  I recognized the guy though.  He's been on Hannity and Colmes on numerous occasions.  I think the last time I saw him on there was when Rall disgusted the general public with a cartoon mocking Reagan the week following his death.

To say the least, the guy must be a jerk when even Alan Colmes (my favorite member of the liberal media) said to Ralls, "I am a liberal Democrat, but you (Ralls) do not represent me."  The look on Ralls' face after that statement was priceless.  You could tell that he knew that he had no allies at that point.

Ted Rall, the cartoonist that drew the cartoon that has received some
attention in this egroup, is one of today's guests on Hannity and Colmes
on the Fox News Network. He says only one of his cartoons a year is
"bad" like this one and says that this one was inappropriate. He says
he does 150 cartoons a year and feels 1 out of 150 is a pretty good
average. Hannity mentioned several cartoons that were in bad taste over
the last 5 years including one that criticized the 9-11 widows. Hannity
told him "You need help" and You are disgusting."

Once again, the website has been updated.  Erin and I have been putting alot of work into it, so please utilize it!  If there's anything you want to see on it, let us know.

We still have a few bugs to work out on it, but we have revamped the toolbar and have added and renamed many of the pages on there.  We have an advocacy page that is under construction (and knowing our affiliate, it probably will be for years to come, lol) and a Consumer Network page is also slowly coming together as well.  Too many updates and changes and not enough space to put it.

Be sure to check out the News page.  There you will find all the happenings that are occuring within NAMI Lubbock.

Hello all,

We have again made some updates to the NAMI Lubbock website.  We have pretty much revised all of the pages in one form or another.  We have also in the process of constructing an education page, an outreach page, and are in the planning stages for an advocacy page as well as a page for the Consumer Network.  Hopefully, we will also soon be able to put the newsletter on the website along with other brochures.   We spent over 4 hours working on it and there were too many things changed, so visit the site and let us know what you think.  We are open to any suggestions.

Thanks again.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Erin and I have begun to update the NAMI Lubbock website.  The link to it is in my signature below.  If you have any additions or corrections you would like to see made to the website, please repsond using the webmaster contact link located on the bottom of the main page of the website or on the e-group.  We need membership input; remember, this is OUR website.  Besides updating all of the information, we currently plan on adding a couple pages on education and support groups.

We do know of a couple of mistakes we made on the website.  For instance, the executive officers e-mail links are a little messed up, there are a couple broken links on the links page, etc.  If any of ya'll have time to go through the site in the next couple of days, please help us check our work and offer us some suggestions of what you would like to see added on there.

Subject: [NamiLub] Rider 55 Hearing Tomorrow in Lubbock

The hearing for the Rider 55 proposal will be in Lubbock tomorrow at the Holiday Inn downtown located at 801 Ave. Q.  The part of the hearing discussing the closure and consolidation of the state hospitals will be from 6-8 pm.

This proposal is one that everyone in NAMI Texas needs to participate in and know about.  From my understanding, the state is considering shuting down one of the four or five state hospitals that are still in operation today.  Why should NAMI Lubbock and LRMHMR be interested in this?  As of right now, public mental health, inpatient services go to Sunrise Canyon in Lubbock, which is a 30 bed unit.  Sometimes, those 30 beds are full and they have to send patients to the Big Spring state hospital two hours away.  This costs money to transport these patients; sometimes it happens and there's nothing we can do.

Under Rider 55, the Big Spring hospital could be closed.  This means that Sunrise Canyon, if it is full, would then have to send patients to San Angelo, which is three plus hours away.  What does that mean?  That means it will cost us, the taxpayers, more money to transport.

Point made, we all need to be educated about this issue and your voice needs to be heard.  Today, you have the opportunity to tell the state what you think about this.

It has also been confirmed that Jackie Shannon, former NAMI National President, will be coming from San Angelo to be in attendance for this important issue.  If you haven't met her, this would be a great opportunity to do so.

Hi Everyone,

There were only three people in the Team Solutions class last night--Andy, Heather, and I.  I know the snow was a major factor in why some of you didn't show up.  But, we missed you nonetheless!  So, I'll catch you up briefly.

We had workbook 7 available.  Andy cancelled class because the three of us have already taken Team Solutions.  But, I have some upcoming news for consumers.

Cliff Gay, Consumer Outreach Consultant for NAMI Texas, has approved the showing of Dark Glasses and Kaleidoscopes and Living with Schizophrenia in the hospitals.  Heather, Consumer Outreach Coordinator, is in the process of implementing those!  We will start with Covenant Plaza.  Also, NAMI Lubbock Consumer Network is in the process of getting a contract with Lubbock Regional MHMR Center.  This is so exciting!  More details to come soon.

Another thing I would like to share is that I have been working on a brochure for the Consumer Network.  It is looking awesome!  On the back page, I would like to add some quotes about NAMI Lubbock consumer programs from our consumers.  I need about 2-3.  If you would like to contribute a quote, I would be much appreciative.  (And I will include your name.)

This is all for now.  But be looking for more updates soon.  Guys, we are growing and some great opportunities are coming our way!  If you are interested in participating, then contact Andy Gibson, Consumer Network Director, adgibson@... or call him at (806) 798-7931.
