This is your Captain speaking.....
Congratulations!!! You've done it! As of 4 pm CST, we've raised $6,100! And that's with two and half days to spare! You should all be very proud of yourselves! I know that you all worked very hard and that we all had some very serious challenges to overcome (like the biggest national emergency since 9/11).
Although we have alot of celebrating to do, I want to cover a couple of quick things before this weekend before the big dance.
Welcome to our newest Legend - William Harvey, Janet's son, has joined us at the last minute. We're honored to have another walker join us for this great cause. Welcome to the Legends William!
Donor Appreciation Dinner was a tremendous success this past Tuesday night. Although I'm not sure what the exact number of attendee's was (I think it was in the 40s) and we raised over $500 at the dinner. Before the dinner, we were reporting $4,975; that was less than 48 hours ago. In other words, we've raised over $1,000 since Tuesday night. I'd say in retrospect, it was worthwhile. Special thanks goes to Janssen Pharmaceutica, Inc. for sponsoring the dinner and Wiley's BBQ for doing the catering. Also want to thank Janet Harvey, Dr. Jim Gamble, Bruce Roark, and Sheryl Bybee for speaking during our "How NAMI benefits.....the provider, the professional, the family member, and the consumer" portion of our dinner. Thanks for everyone who volunteered to set-up and tear down before and after the dinner. Finally, special thanks goes to Sharp's Flowers, Heros and Legacies, and Family Photo for providing our door prizes for the evening. Plus, anyone and everyone else I might have forgotten, we appreciate all your help.
Thanks for Marcy for going back to her "roots." Marcy Mayberry did a radio spot on KRBL (The Rebel) 105.7 yesterday morning around 8:15 am. I know several of us tuned in and all of us thought you did an excellent job Marcy. For those of you who don't know, Marcy has quite an extensive background in radio. Back a few years ago, she was the GM of a radio station in the Amarillo area. On top of this, she's done tons of footwork for us in NAMIWalks and we are all amazed by your talents. From all of your fellow Legend's, thanks Marcy!
Thanks to MHMR for doing the shirts. Screen Print, Inc., a child company of LRMHMR, did the printing for us. We went ahead and decided to charge everyone for their shirts, but S-XL are $6.50 and XXL are $7.50 so I didn't think anyone would mind. Cash or check may be sent to Janet Harvey and can be given to her at the Walk. Checks are to be made out to Screen Print, Inc.
Checks - If you still have donor's checks you're holding on to, please stop! I need them! We're going to try and get some of them over to Austin for the Walk.
On-line Donations - Due to the amount of last minute on-line contributors, I need a list of these folks contact information ASAP.
Other than that, I don't have much else to say. What is there to say? Ya'll did it! Congratulations! My parents, myself, Marcy, and Sheryl leave for Austin tomorrow, William, Janet and Noelle are coming in on Saturday and Heather, Rex and Danette fly in on Sunday.
